ADDAC System ADDAC511 is a new fully-featured, 20HP 4-channel stochastic voltage generator module for Eurorack.
Modular synthesis has many advantages over traditional, fixed synthesizers. First, you can build your own audio signal path with any oscillators, filters, etc. you like. A west-coast oscillator combined with a Moog or Roland-like filter is not a problem. Another important feature and advantage is the ability to modulate almost anything.
So it’s important to have plenty of modulators in a modular system, both classic and more playful. ADDAC Systems from Portugal has unveiled the ADDAC511, one of these more wilder, fun modulators. It’s not just a simple random modulator; it squeezes a complete stochastic modulation hub in your case.
ADDAC System ADDAC511
The new ADDAC511 is a new 20HP comprehensive 4-channel voltage generator for Eurorack. You have four independent channels with bipolar CV/gate outputs and clock inputs.
Each ADDAC System ADDAC511 channel is fully customizable and can generate either continuous voltages, envelopes, or as a quantizer. These includes all things random, with quantization, probability, distribution, interpolation, time control, clock, states, and a 32-step sequencer.
The latter is per channel and can work completely independent or in sync.
Just as extensive are the control options that allows you to modify every aspect of each channel’s selected modulator. The module panel hosts a screen with buttons for quick access of parameters and two encoders.
Even though I am always a bit skeptical about the ease of use, the Portuguese company promises that the workflow is fast and fluid of the module.
ADDAC511 offers buttons controls over various parameters, including voltage range, quantization with custom scales, probabilitiy, distributon curves, smoothing, BPM ranges, and more. Then, it also features mutes and holds per channel, making it also a perfect partner for performances.
All this randomization fun can also be saved. Each channel features three stages aka presets that allow to create very fast setting, from smooth to drastic transitions.
Further, you can find on the panel eight assignable CV inputs and four gate inputs that are mappable to any setting of any channel. Plus, you get three configurable logic/clock outputs for creating complex logic events and an average CV output of all four CV outputs.
First Impression
ADDAC511 looks like a very powerful CV processor that lets you delve deep into the world of CV. I like the compact format that houses a lot of functionality. I hope the operation is as easy as promised.
ADDAC System ADDAC511 is available now for $599,99/520€
