Sinevibes Array v4 is a free major update for its creative spectral filter sequencer effect plugin for macOS, Linux, and Windows.
Filters are often used to strengthen or weaken specific frequencies in sounds. A tool that is almost indispensable in synthesizers. The next level is spectral filters that go into the last detail of your sounds.
You can use this manually in DAWs but also more creative in motion. Sinevibes has now updated its Array plugin to v4, combining spectral filtering with advanced gate sequencing.
Sinevibes Array v4
Array v4 is a major update with various new additions. When you load it, you are greeted by a completely redesigned, modern, fully scalable UI with a built-in patch manager
Technically, it remains a creative spectral sequencer effect plugin that uses crossover filters. However, the new Sinevibes Array v4 features new neutral filters that don’t color the sound in any way.
Alternatively, you can switch to the eight resonant bandpass filters of the previous versions with variable resonance and slope. These filters colorize your sounds and have a more dominant impact. Plus, there is a spread function to pan the frequency bands across the stereo field gradually.
It splits the incoming audio into eight distinct frequency bands separated by one octave apart. Each band then runs through a gate controlled by an advanced step sequencer. This is where the fun of the Sinevibes Array v4 plugin begins. The spectral filter engine merges with the sequencer and becomes a rhythmic effect.
Array’s built-in sequencer can hold eight different gate patterns up to 32 steps each. You can select them with a click at the bottom of the new user interface. The sequencer offers various timing settings, unlocking polymetric or polyrhythmic motion in any time signature.
According to Sinevibes, the gate switches on every frequency band are shaped using a two-pole low-pass filter for natural yet snappy transitions. The plugin supports different channel configurations: mono to mono, mono to stereo, and stereo to stereo.
Thanks to the additional neutral filters option, Sinevibes Array v4 can do everything its predecessors could and more. This includes elegant, smooth filter movements, filterbank-like effects, and vocoder-like manglings.
First Impression
At first glance, it is an excellent free update for the Array spectral filter plugin. Choosing between two filters is neat and makes the plugin more versatile.
Sinevibes Array v4 is available now for $29. It runs as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel), Linux, and Windows. The new v4 is a free update for existing Array v1-v3 users.
