Behringer Deepmind X is a new series that celebrates the analog polysynth’s 10th anniversary with a Juno color skin.

Eight years ago, the Behringer Synthesizer adventure began on the media side with the first teasers (Behringer Synth Vol. videos) for the Deepmind Synthesizer. It was available for pre-order in December 2016 and was delivered in 2017.

However, Behringer is already celebrating its 10th anniversary with the new Deepmind X series. One has to wonder if this is a celebration of the beginning of development since the release was only 8-9 years ago.

Behringer Deepmind X Series

Deepmind X sounds like the next generation of the analog polysynth. In reality, however, it’s more or less just marketing.

The Behringer Deepmind X is the popular Deepmind analog polysynth from 2017 with a new skin reminiscent of the Roland Junos. A Jupiter skin wouldn’t have been appropriate because the DM is based on the Roland Juno series in terms of structure and concept but without being a 1:1 clone.

It’s not just one synth but an entire Deepmind X series where all three versions- 12 voices, desktop 12 voices, and 6 voices will come out in the new color look.

Even though Behringer hasn’t mentioned anything explicitly, I assume all three are identical to the regular Deepmind versions. They feature:

  • 6 to 12 analog synth voices
  • two oscillators per voice with sync
  • oscillator 1 with sawtooth and square/pulse waveforms with pulse width modulation
  • oscillator 2 with square/pulse waveforms with tone modulation
  • selectable dual slope 12/24 dB analog low pass filter per voice with adjustable resonance
  • 2 LFOs per voice with seven waveforms
  • 3 ADSR generators per voice for control of VCF, VCA, and mod envelopes
  • 8-channel modulation matrix with 19 sources and over 130 destinations
  • 4 FX slots with TC Electronic and Klark Teknik FX with over 30 algorithms
  • 32-step control sequencer with adjustable slew rate and MIDI sync
  • keyboard versions with velocity and aftertouch keybeds
  • and more

First Impression

I like the Deepmind X version better than the regular look.  But it’s a matter of taste what you prefer. It’s crazy how quickly this time has passed. You think it’s just been on the market, but it’s already been 8 years or even 10 years. Happy Birthday in advance, Deepmind.

Behringer Deepmind X series is ready for pre-order at a starting price of $579 (global list price) and $779 (in the US) for the Deepmind 6X. Available is TBA.
