Deal: Thomann has dropped the price of the Akai Pro MPK249, 46-keys MIDI keyboard by 46% for Black Friday 2022
I always try my best to summarize the Black Friday and Christmas deals in tables to make it easy and less annoying. However, some deals must be highlighted because they are too good to miss.
Thomann has started its Cyberweek sale today. In their sales event, you can currently buy the Akai Pro MPK249 MIDI keyboard for 222€ instead of 399€. Which is a massive discount of 46%, which is unusually high for music tech hardware. It is not known whether Akai has discontinued the product or whether Thomann is doing a warehouse clearance.
Akai Pro MPK249
The MPK249 is a MIDI keyboard with 49 semi-weighted, full-size keys with velocity and aftertouch support. With the onboard octave up and down controls, you can access the entire melodic range. Hardware pitch and mod wheels for the perfect synth-action are also onboard.
Then, it comes with 16 RGB-illuminated pads with note repeat functionality and flexible configurations (full level, 16 level…) There are four banks of pads available (A, B, C, D). On the right side, it hosts eight assignable knobs, faders, and buttons, giving you a total of 24 performance controls.
MPK249 also includes a flexible arpeggiator with adjustable resolution, range, and patterns. All are controllable via buttons and the backlit LCD display.
On the backside, you get a power supply input, USB-MIDI port, 5-pin MIDI in/out sockets, and inputs for expression and sustain pedals.
The MPK249 also ships with plenty of in-house and third-party software products. Including VIP Software 3.0, MPC Beats, Ableton Live Lite, Hybrid 3 Synthesizer, Xpand!2 Synth and six months of Reason+.
My 2 Pennies
The Akai Pro MPK249 is not the latest MIDI keyboard on the market. It was released in 2014, and so it’s not the hottest new s… you see on influencers’ cameras. But that doesn’t mean anything. It’s still a rock-solid MIDI keyboard that you can find in the higher MIDI keyboard class. In where the NI Komplete S and Arturia KeyLab series are. So everything at 400+.
If you are looking for a new MIDI keyboard and have a relatively tight budget, you can get here an interesting package: quality keybed with velocity + aftertouch, tons of hardware controls, and arpeggiator… for little money. And before you buy a keyboard for 150€ with a less good keybed and no aftertouch, take a look at this deal.
The Akai MPK249 is available now for 222€ instead of 399€ (46% OFF) until November 28th, 2022. There is also a 26.34% discount on the little brother the MPK225, which is significantly more compact with 25 keys. It’s available for 179€ instead of 243€.
