Dawesome Myth is a new Synthesizer plugin (macOS/Windows) with a modular-style engine that takes you on a machine learning-supported resynthesis journey.
Great news from Peter of Dawesome. He has just dropped Myth 1.5, a major free update for its unique Re-Synthesizer plugin. The new Mynth 1.5 introduces an all-new re-synthesis V2 algorithm designed to be faithful to the original sample while maintaining MYTH’s signature creative flexibility.
Dawesome promises that the new algorithm delivers clean, accurate, and expressive re-synthesis. The update also brings 200+ new presets that showcase the new synthesis options, totaling more than 900 built-in sounds.
A very welcome update, and thanks for making it a free update.
The new Dawesome Myth 1.5 update is free of charge for existing customers. To celebrate this release, Myth is on a special 50% OFF sale ($89,50 instead of $179) until November 16, 2024. It’s available at Plugin Boutique.

AI is the topic of all topics. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are omnipresent, whether in consumer technology or the music tech sphere. Entire tracks can be created with AI, voices can be cloned, images can be generated… I’m pretty sure AI and machine learning will also play a major role in the Synthesizer world.
As some people know, I’m a big fan of Peter of Dawesome’s developments. They are innovative, unique, and stand out from the crowd in concept and sound. Dawesome also enters the machine learning route with its new Synthesizer plugin, Myth. Oh and it’s not an AI synth, don’t worry.
Dawesome Myth
Myth is a new Synthesizer plugin. To be precise, it is a resynthesizer because the engine is not based on classic oscillators with a bunch of static waves. Instead, the synth uses two resynthesized audio files visualized as an iris. The resynthesis process is supported by advanced machine learning to achieve the best results.
You can create these files by simply dragging and dropping audio into the corresponding oscillator slots. Once you’ve done this, the engine transforms the files into a plethora of sonic variations. From here, you can then explore the oscillators with the transformer dials.
Transformers allow you to shape/bend the resynthesized sample based on several different principles. For example, you can work with brass, saw, string, and square, which process the audio as if it were created using one of those methods.
And since you can load all sorts of audio, the sound spectrum is infinite compared to classic oscillators. You can also modify the playhead, infuse various FM types, explore orbit modulation, and more.
Modular Synth
Below, you can dive into the second part of the Myth engine. It has the flexibility of a modular synth but without the messy character of cables. In this, you can drop in additional oscillators and work with virtual analog filters, effects, and more. The linear left-to-right workflow reminds me of a pedalboard.
This section also contains interesting sound shapers, modulators, and effects. For example, it hosts resonators that are trainable by dropping a sample. So you have your individual-sounding acoustic resonator. On the effects side, it offers a phaser, a cloud reverb, a delay, a granulator, and more.
Also, the modulation engine is supercharged with a raw amount of advanced LFOs, envelopes, and MIDI effects. On top, you get an arpeggiator.
Peter of Dawesome also implemented a sophisticated randomization system to make sound design easier and more convenient. For example, you can freeze sections to keep them unchanged or try your resynthesized sample in other patches. Like putting a dress over them, says Peter.
Myth supports full MPE and MTS-ESP, covering all your expressive needs. The plugin ships over 700+ presets from over 10 sound designers and artists. That’s a lot to explore.
First Impression
Every new Synthesizer release comes with many marketing bla bla about how the instrument makes everything better. Don’t worry, it’s also here the case. But there is. also of truth in it. Like Novum or Kult, Myth is another enrichment for the synth plugin world from Peter of Dawesome. It’s unique, different, and fun to use.
I would have to see how far you can go sonically in a test, but what you can hear in the first sound demos so far is very organic and fat.
Tracktion distributes Dawesome Myth, which is available now for an introductory price of 119€ instead of 169€. It runs as a 64-bit only VST3 and AU plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.

Writing that this synth uses A.I. merely illustrates a lack of understanding of A.I. and how this product works.
The synth uses a very interesting algorithm/approach to resynthesizing audio into 4 layers.
It uses machine learning (ML) to do this. Though ML can be considered a subset of AI, it’s better to call it by its name and not jump on the buzz word wagon by calling it AI.
Nonetheless, myth looks like a great synth 🙂
Please change this. Calling MYTH an AI synth is very misleading and deprives what it truly is. It’s a synth that uses machine learning to reconstruct the sample into an Iris which can be manipulated with the transformers and different processing you can do with the Oscillators, Filter and Effects. At its core it’s a synth just as much as it’s siblings Abyss, Kult and Novum!
an “AI synth” and AI-supported resynthesis process are two different things to me.
But it’s not ai supported. It’s a machine learning algorithm.
okay
that looks like based on Anemond Factorsynth3
And if so, that brings the controversial case.
because lately Anemond was making a sale and now it looks like they knew that soon a more advanced synth using their technology gonna be released and wanted to get money from simpletons like me, who would buy a Factorsynth3 because of the sale.
So I feel myself obviously fooled now.
