TAL-G-Verb by Togu Audio Line is a new reverb plugin with a customizable reverb algorithm and granular (grain) engine.

The Togu Audio Line TAL-Reverb-4 is one of the most popular free reverb plugins. It sounds excellent and runs on all operating systems, even Linux. Regarding features, it’s a flexible plate reverb with a good range of parameters but not a super deep processor.

With the new TAL-G-Verb, Togu Audio Line has today released its first flagship reverb plugin for macOS, Linux, and Windows, which goes beyond standard reverbs like its free one.

TAL-G-Verb

The new TAL-G-Verb is a new reverb plugin with various possible facets. According to Togu Audio Line (TAL) it is suitable for all types of sounds from drums to huge pads, and special effects.

The internal reverb is based on a delay-based algorithm with eight different signal paths. They are all connected through a complex internal network to achieve a fast build-up time and a smooth tail.

A highlight is that you can manipulate and adjust this in detail in the dedicated reverb editor. You adjust the input volumes, the three delay stages with their delay time in samples, and the output volumes of the early pre-delays and the later delays. These can also be saved as reverb templates.

This option allows for a wide range of reverb sounds with various characteristics. The TAL-G-Verb reverb engine has been optimized to reduce coloration and digital artifacts to a minimum, says TAL. As a result, this reverb can be used for a wide range of material, from small rooms to huge plate-like reverbs.

Granular Engine

Alongside the reverb engine, you can also easily tweak the reverb timbres on the main screen with classic controls, including size, delay, color, and time. There is also a freeze function and a side-chain ducking functionality.

Another highlight of the TAL-G-Verb is the built-in granular engine. Once activated, it transforms your sounds into huge, cinematic stereo sounds, chords, and synced ARP patterns. The engine comes with various controls (grain size, density, detune, and envelope shape).

Then, it also comes with different routing options, a grain sync option, and a grain mixer with built-in diffusion and feedback. The grain spread engine allows you to dive even deeper into it. Here, you can define different pitch values in semitones for the grains and archive host-synced arp patterns.

This sounds like a pretty powerful granular engine with a wide range of parameters to adjust the granular sounds to your taste. Besides the grain engine, TAL-G-Verb offers a Lo-Fi engine with bit- and sample-reduction. This section is perfect for you if the reverbs can be a bit dirtier and characterful.

Further, it hosts a graphic EQ for shaping the reverb’s output spectrum. Togu Audio Line ships the plugin with over 100 factory presets in different categories, such as drums, vocals, and synth reverbs.

First Impression

An exciting versatile reverb plugin from Togu Audio Line. I like that you craft classic and experimental reverbs in the same plugin.
