Making Sound Machines DivSkip is a new multimode rhythmic processor powerhouse module for Eurorack in collaboration with YouTuber DivKid.

Modular musicians like to work with sequencers to create drum and melodic content. These modules work with CV or trigger signals. Classic step sequencers, however, often reach their limits regarding complex, dynamic patterns.

YouTuber DivKid has teamed up with the duo Making Sound Machines from Düsseldorf (Germany) and developed a new 8HP module processor that supercharges any CV/trigger generator with creative abilities. Say hi to DivSkip!

DivSkip is a new 8HP four-channel multi-mode trigger and gate processor for Eurorack. The key feature of the module is the eight modes, which are available on each of the four independent channels.

You can find Bernouilly Gates, clock division, turning inspired by the Music Thing Modular Turing Machine, Euclidean Split, Euclidean Classic, ramp/gate length, retrigger, and pattern. The manual and the linked DivKid video provide a detailed overview.

All eight modes have something in common. They inject a fascinating special sauce into your rhythmic and melodic patterns, transforming them into something varied, living, and musical.

DivSkip has four inputs (note trigger inputs), eight trigger outputs (A/B), and four independent channels of probability CV. The two trigger output sets, A and B, are particularly exciting as they play an essential role.

Each mode transforms the incoming signal differently. With the A and B trigger options, DivKid offers the user two different results from this process.

For example, mode 1 is a Bernoulli Gate that takes an incoming signal and routes it to one of the two channels based on a coin flip algorithm. The knob, here, stacks the odds in one or the other’s favor. This gives different useable signals on channels A and B.

Further, toggle switches (trigger/gate) (mute) and flexible click-to-mute knobs add a hands-on, performance-ready workflow. This allows on-the-fly adjustments of the signals.

As a welcome bonus, each knob of Making Sound Machine DivSkip offers an eye-catching circular LED visualization that shows in real-time the activity of each channel. They instantly reminded me of the vpme.de Euclidean Circles V2 LED design.

First Impression

It is a super exciting, hands-on module in only 8HP, with which you can enrich every pattern and other signals with new musical candy in no time. Often, modules lose their playful nature due to their feature depth. Here, this has been preserved and remains very performance-ready. Congrats!

Making Sound Machines DivSkip is available now for $249,99/219€.
