Superbooth 24: Endorphin.es New Godspeed is an updated version of its performance oscillator module, and the Autopilot autotuner goes 1U.
“Endorphin.es goes pedals.” That was the Spanish company’s motto last year with the Ghost and Golden Master. This year, they are returning to the modular business and looking at the past. Anyone involved with Endorphin.es for a while knows that the company is getting started with the Furthrrrr Generator, a stellar complex oscillator based on the Buchla 259.
Side note: it was my first Eurorack oscillator purchase that I would never sell. In 2018, a performance-optimized version, the Goodspeed oscillator, came out. Unlike the FG, which has neat tuners, it goes one step further and hosts auto-tuners. In 2024, for the Superbooth 24, Endorphin.es showcases the new Godspeed oscillator. Plus, the Autopilot feature goes 1U.
Endorphin.es New Godspeed
The new Godspeed (6HP) inherits the previous Godspeed oscillator and brings some changes. It features a hybrid triangle core designed for performances capable of generating complex analog waveforms. The new generation is based again on the Strong Zero Core, known from the Furthrrrr Generator oscillator.
It uses a main oscillator and modulator to achieve complex tones like the previous. Use the internal modulator oscillator, and you get a powerful 2-operator FM voice. Go further and use the sine/waveform outputs, and you can dive into bright, crisp west-coast tones.
Again, the odd/even outputs are onboard, with a pre-patched sub-oscillator with selectable sub-octaves. A white noise generator provides additional sonic options. The handy pitch lock function of the New Godspeed allows you to freeze the pitch so you do not accidentally alter it during a performance.
The New Godspeed now supports MIDI. It features a MIDI input and MIDI thru on 3.5mm TRS MIDI standard A or B and MIDI thru. It’s an alternative to the 1V/oct input.
Next to this is also a MIDI thru input.
A highlight of the new generation is the improved tuning stability. This means you can tune it instantly without waiting to warm up. And, of course, tuning is done again via the built-in auto-tuning function. Endorphin.es promises it will never go out of tune.
Endorphin.es Autopilot 1U
With the Autopilot module in 2019, the developers decoupled the function and made it an independent module. For Superbooth 24, they are introducing it in a super compact 6HP 1U (Intellijel) version.
Autopilot 1U simplifies tuning analog oscillators. Just apply the module between the pitch CV and the reference waveform. A single button press enables the tune function to the nearest A or C note. Then, a long hold press disables the tune, and a super long hold changes the tune from A to C notes or vice versa.
First Impression
A nice update for the Godspeed Oscillator. I don’t know whether we needed MIDI support in the Endorphin.es New Goodspeed. I used the “old” Godspeed for a long time and was happy with the classic 1V/oct input. Autopilot 1U is also a good addition.
Endorphin.es New Godspeed ($209/209€ incl. VAT) and Autopilot 1U ($65/65€ incl. VAT) will be available on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. You can pre-order them now. Endorphin.es will have a booth (Z380) at Superbooth 24.
