Akai Ring The Alarm is a new dub siren Synthesizer plugin for macOS, Windows, and MPC standalone co-developed with AIR Music Tech.
There are many different synthesizers. From analog modeling and FM to instruments with additive or granular synthesis. All synths with which you can generate very versatile sounds.
And there are also synthesizers that were designed for specific sounds. Akai’s latest synth addition to its MPC ecosystem is one from this section.
Akai Ring The Alarm
Ring The Alarm is a new Synthesizer plugin inspired by the iconic Dub Siren, which originated in the vibrant dance halls of Jamaica. The engine itself is straightforward. It consists of a simple oscillator, LFO, a decay envelope, and an amp with a release envelope.
AIR Music Tech, the plugin’s developers, upgraded the LFO with multiple waves, and automation on the LFO speed, allowing users to create unique alarm sounds.
Additionally, you can refine your sounds with an effects processor that blends a vintage tape echo and spring reverb. It’s a very hands-on plugin with all parameters on a single page.
According to Akai, the synth is designed to infuse your track with sirens, synth rises, and mashed-up effects.
First Impression
Ring The Alarm is a very special interest Synthesizer plugin. Even with its very affordable price, I assume that it will only appeal to musicians who are looking for exactly these sounds.
Akai Ring The Alarm is available now for $28,74 from the MPC Store. It runs as a VST2, VST3, and AU plugin on macOS and Windows. It also works in standalone on MPC hardware.
