Cherry Audio, maker of quality synths have acquired GG Audio’s beloved Blue3 vintage organ and Spin rotary speaker emulation plugins.

Software that emulate vintage instruments or effects have a dominant position on the market. In the Synthesizer emulation field, the best known are Arturia, Softube, U-he and Cherry Audio. The latter is still a younger company but has built up a massive portfolio in a very short time.

Now, they are expanding this with two more quality plugins. This time not from their development team but from a third party developer.

Cherry Audio Blue3 Spin

Cherry Audio Blue3 and Spin

The cherrys have acquired GG Audio’s popular Blue3 vintage tonewheel organ plugin and the rotary speaker emulation Spin. According to Cherry Audio, they will now re-develop both plugins and add them to their growing line-up.

Ray Giarratana, founder and principal of GG Audio, expressed high optimism for the acquisition, stating:

“We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our users and beta testers who have supported us throughout the journey of Blue3. Your enthusiasm and feedback have been invaluable to us, and we are deeply grateful for your loyalty. As we pass the torch to Cherry Audio, we couldn’t be more excited about the future of Blue3.”

Cherry Audio’s Chief Technology Officer, Dan Goldstein, said about the acquisition:

“We are thrilled and honored to include the exceptional Blue3 and Spin in Cherry Audio’s collection of virtual instruments and effects. Our team is fully committed to championing and extending the exceptional legacy GG Audio has created.”

What exactly Blue3 and Spin will look like under the Cherry Audio brand is unknown. Nor whether they will get new features, a UI, etc. I guess the plugins will be cheaper than on the prices on GG Audio.

Important for current users of Blue3 and Spin is to know that you must download the latest versions and secure their license code from the GG Audio website. Users are encouraged to take advantage of this to ensure uninterrupted access to Blue3 and Spin during the transition period.

Cherry Audio has not yet announced whether there will be a crossgrade/upgrade option for existing GG Audio users. it would be to see such an option during the release of the new versions.
