Deal Tracktion F.’em FM
F.’em is a modern, feature-rich FM Synthesizer plugin but bears a somewhat bizarre name. This was developed by Tracktion and ex-Waldorf developer Wolfram Franke.
The plugin takes a similar approach to FM synthesis as the Korg opsix. Away from classic FM synthesis à la DX7 to modern FM synthesis that is fully customizable and incorporates elements from other areas.
Some of its mighty, unusual FM synth features are: four layers, each with modular algorithms, unique wave and multi-sample operator configurations, various filters, modifiers, four effects, and more.
Especially its versatility and flexibility of the operators stand out here. Like in the opsix, you can craft your own algorithms by feeding any wave operator into any other, including sample content.
Besides this, each operator features its own pitch and level LFO and its own pitch and level envelope, as you know it from FM synths. F.’em also has a lot of what classic subtractive synths have. Including two filters with an overdrive stage, flexible LFOs, envelopes, and more.
Thanks to its four layers, you get four independent synthesizers in one plugin that you can play together in a patch.
On top, you get three sound packs (Bass Odyssey, Cyberpunk, and Cinematic Vistas), giving you 300+ new sounds.
F.’em is not a classic FM Synthesizer plugin like the NI FM8 or the DX-7V emulation from Arturia. It offers a unique modular style take on FM synthesis where you can dive deep into operators. It’s not another DX-7 emulation.
