Zero-G Nostalgia Reborn is a major overhaul of one of the longest-running Kontakt Synthesizer virtual instruments, adding new features.
Native Instruments released the first Kontakt sampler plugin in 2002. Many versions followed, along with hundreds, if not thousands, of sample libraries from third-party developers.
One of the longest-running Synthesizer libraries is certainly Zero-G Nostalgia, released in 2005. After 21 years on the market, Zero-G has released a major update called Nostalgia Reborn. Existing customers can even upgrade at a low cost.
Zero-G Nostalgia Reborn
Initially designed for the NI Kompakt sampler, Nostalgia switched to the new Kontakt platform with its release. Now, after 20 years, the library returns with a new design.
Zero-G Nostaliga Reborn features over 1100 instrument patches made from over 4500 samples programmed by sound designer and synth enthusiast Steve Howell. No changes have been made to the library itself, and it contains the same sample set as the original. It includes:
From old-school lo-fi beatboxes to silky Prophet pads and strings, weighty Moog basses and leads, classic electric pianos, swirling string synths, quirky toy instruments, vintage samplers, brittle digital synths and evolving S+S soundscapes – it’s all here.
With its vast scope and depth, this collection represents over 40 years of electronic instrument history, distilled into one definitive Kontakt library.
No new samples, but a completely new look that makes the library even more of an instrument. It comes with a newly scripted, fully-featured GUI, allowing you to craft your sounds.
It includes features such as two LFOs and two envelopes for the filter and amp, sample visualization with start/stop, and a multi-FX section on a dedicated second page. The latter has a reverb, delay, modulation, compressor, EQ, filter, drive, amp, and cabinet.
That’s not all. According to Zero-G, it has meticulously optimized every sound, including memory-efficient and seamless looping.
The result is a celebration of over four decades of innovation, experimentation, and pioneering spirit – all encapsulated in one iconic collection that, the developers promise, truly lives up to its name.
First Impression
Over 20 years on the market is quite an achievement for a Kontakt library. It’s been through all the ups and downs of Kontakt. I’m pleased to see that the developers have revived it. My only disappointment is that they haven’t included any new sample content.
Zero-G Nostalgia Reborn is available now for $54,95/54,95€. Existing Nostalgia customers can upgrade for $19,95/19,95€. It requires the full edition of Kontakt 6.8.10 or higher.
