These are the best iOS synths of 2023 according to The Sound Test Room YouTube channel’s Patreon community.
The year is slowly coming to an end and the best of the year articles and videos are popping up everywhere. As you know, I’m less of a fan of such best of listings. Especially if they are chosen in the middle of the year.
As a counterpoint to the classic best-ofs, I created my best experimental synth articles a few years ago to push the usually small developer scene. Nevertheless, we can see what other choose as the best. Doug from The Sound Test Room has an interesting best-of video.
Best iOS Synths 2023
The focus of the Sound Test Room YouTube channel is on iOS apps. One of the channels I have subscribed to for the longest time. So it makes sense that Doug’s best of’s lists are about iOS.
But instead of giving his own listing, he asked his Patreon community what the best iOS synthesizers 2023 are. I am very happy with the choice of the community. There are many iOS synthesizers that would have ended up on my best list too.
Here’s a spoiler. Of course, I advise everyone to watch the video.
- Bram Bos Hilda (west- and east cost synth)
- Moog Mariana (analog modeling bass synth)
- Butter Synth (“the superpower synth” with wavetables, sampling, granular, FM….)
- AudioKit King Of Digital (rompler synth)
- 4Pockets StringLab (physical modeling Synthesizer)
- BeepStreet Dagger Synth (analog modeling synth)
- ToyBox Audio Thump One (percussive synth)
- Baby Audio BA-1 (Yamaha CS01 emulation + extras) – FREE sounds
- Pianoteq 8 (physical modeling piano)
- Klevgrand Tomofon
Please feel free to post your highlights in the comments here. They should be iOS synths from 2023. I’m looking forward to your highlights.
