Musician and sound designer Substan has published Syntopia, a new patch library with 100 new sounds for the Elektron Syntakt.
A few days ago, I posted a psybient, downtempo Jam by musician Substan. This wasn’t just a jam but a preview of his new patch library for the Elektron Syntakt.
Syntopia, not the synth blog Synthtopia, is out now on his sound store.
Details
Syntopia is a new patch library with 100 new ambient-focused sounds the Elektron Syntakt hybrid groovebox/Synthesizer. Substan says:
Like all my sound packs, Syntopia is a collection of sounds that were created in a musical context for my own tracks. So the main focus is again on drones, pads, arps, lively pluck sounds and (background)noise in various forms (no drums at all). Most of them make also use of the modulation wheel and aftertouch.
These sounds are suitable for a variety of genres … but of course (like all my sound packs) perfectly suitable for ambient, psybient, downbeat, chillout and psytrance. As a little bonus, Syntopia includes the project files of 2 tracks I made with the Syntakt (witness & syntropy).
Please use the included Syntopia project file to explore the sound pack. All pattern of Bank A contain my preferred reverb and delay settings. With the default settings for delay and reverb the sounds lack a lot of depth and size.
First Impression
The designer has designed nice patches here that show that the Elektron Syntakt can also be an excellent softer, ambient machine.
Substan Syntopia is available now for $15.
