For Superbooth 2023, Befaco has announced the 7U Case, a new powered Eurorack case with built-in audio and MIDI connectivity.
Choosing a suitable modular case is not easy. How big should it be, with internal power or without? With I/O or external?
For Superbooth 23, the Barcelona-based company Befaco addressed these questions and presented a new 7U case with nothing to be desired. Okay for me, ideas of what a case should look like differ massively among the users
Befaco 7U Case
The new 7U Case is a new powered 104HP Eurorack case consisting of two rows of 3U (6U total) and a row for today’s trendy 1U modules. According to Befaco, it is equipped with its latest and most sophisticated power supply (Trolley Bus) with up to 5000mA (5A @12v, 2.5A @-12v, and 4A @ 5V) of power.
They promise that you can feed the most modern and power-hungry modules. Okay, let’s make the test with two rows of discontinued Roland FX modules, hehe. And the internal connectors of the 1U row are also compatible with your favorite 1U Canadian manufacturer, mmh Intellijel.
Befaco gets a particularly big like for the extra built-in audio and MIDI I/O. It hosts on the back six 6,5 ” jack connectors (with color-coded nuts, of course), two USB A ports for charging and USB host duties), MIDI in, out, and thru. Finally, you can also find a USB type B for devices.
Another great addition is the Vesa connector compatibility with which the case can also be used floating. There is also a Kensington lock and a plastic cover. It ships with a 150W wallwart adapter.
First Impression
A very elegant case with lots of utilities. The 1U row is top and the extra audio/MIDI IO is also very practical. This saves space for the good things and you don’t require any extra interface modules.
Befaco 7U Case will be available at the end of June for 650€ in an assembled version or DIY for 550€. You can visit Befaco at Superbooth at the booth Z190.
