Cherry Audio Galactic Reverb is a new algorithmic reverb plugin based on the Dreamsynth DS-1 algorithm but expanded with modulation, ducking, and more.
How many reverb plugins do we need in our arsenal? One, two, or just all. This is a question that you can only answer for yourself. One thing is for sure: every reverb has its own character. Like a Synthesizer or any other effect processor.
The hard-working developers at Cherry Audio now also have a reverb plugin in their portfolio named Galactic Reverb.
Cherry Audio Galactic Reverb
Galactic Reverb is a new algorithmic reverb that draws inspiration from classic hardware digital reverbs. According to the developers, it is based on the reverb algorithm from the Dreamsynth DS-1 Synthesizer plugin but with new features making it more versatile and flexible.
As the name suggests, this plugin is about atmospheric, big reverbs that go on forever. For this, Cherry Audio made the decay up to 35 seconds, which should be enough for never-ending, lush ambiances.
Cherry Audio added several modern features giving you more control over it. It features a modulation section that consists of an LFO (0,1 Hz to 5 kHz) with rate and depth controls. It allows you to apply it to the reverb tail which opens up many new sound design options. Unlike the Dreamsynth reverb, it also comes with a new pre-day, damping control and an equalizer section with low- and high-frequency controls.
Further, they also added a ducking function for automatically reducing reverb levels while the source signal is playing. This improves the mix clarity and doesn’t require sidechain. Clever addition especially with these long reverb tails. Ducking can also be used to dramatically alternate between super dry and immense reverb tails, setting Galactic apart from other spacey reverbs.
CA ships Galactic Reverb with over 50 “ethereal presets” all built-in in an easy-to-use preset browser. The plugin is also fully controllable over MIDI including DAW automation for all controls. There are also different user-selectable themes available.
At first glance, it looks like a solid reverb capable of driving any instrument, vocal, or another signal into the deep cosmos. What I like for a change is the limited number of knobs. It is very clear and you can quickly find the sound your want.
Cherry Audio Galactic Reverb is available now for an introductory price of $19 USD (reg. $29 USD) until July 31st, 2022. It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS and Windows.
