Superbooth 21: Sequential now offers a new voice expansion card for its new Prophet-5 REV 4 with 5 additional voices & bi-timbral support via OS 2.0.

One week until Superbooth 21 and we receive news every day. Dave Smith’s ex-company Sequential, now Focusrite, will also have a booth in Berlin. Many will probably rush to the new Prophet-5 to explore the latest version.

Sequential also comes with two big news to the Superbooth. Besides the recently released TAKE 5 poly synth, the Prophet-5 also got a major update.

Sequential Prophet-5 voice expansion

Sequential Prophet-5 Voice Expansion

Starting with a brand-new voice expansion card for the Prophet-5 Synthesizer. With this, you can expand its polyphony to mighty 10 voices. So you can upgrade from any new Prophet-5 to a Prophet-10, regardless of the keyboard or desktop version. This expansion also activates a long-awaited functionality.

Bi-Timbral Operation

With the new Prophet-5 REV 4 2.0 OS, players can finally stack two different programs together for more powerful, complex sounds. This turns the new Prophet-10 or 5 + voice card into a bi-timbral Synthesizer. Each program is allocated 5 voices of polyphony, allowing 5-note bi-timbral operation.

Alternatively, players can split the keyboard into two separate performance zones, each with a different program. This allows for bi-timbral performance of bass and leads, or bass and pads, for example.

“We’re excited to bring stack and split capability to 10-voice Prophets,” said Sequential founder Dave Smith. “It gives even more musical versatility to an already awesome-sounding instrument. Musicians are going to love the sound design possibilities of bi-timbral stacks. And players will be able to make good use of splits in live performance.”

A nice very welcomed update for the Prophet-10. Now it’s definitely a modern all-analog Prophet synth.

The Prophet-5 voice expansion card has a US MAP of $899 and is available directly from Sequential. It is compatible with both keyboard and desktop models of the Prophet-5. The new Prophet-5 REV 4 OS update is ready for download.
