MFB SYNTH 8 is now called SYNTH PRO and is a new poly desktop analog Synthesizer with built-in effects & patch storage from Berlin

On the last day of the Superbooth one usually hurts the feet and as a reporter one tries to handle the last appointments before packing the bags again. However, MFB had just this day selected to present its new polyphonic analog synthesizer. Quite surprisingly without a big teaser and NDA. Today, the developers released all the details including the new name. The SYNTH PRO is an 8-voice polyphonic version of the best-known blue SYNTH II from 2007.

SYNTH PRO features three analog oscillators that can be switched to DCO operation if unfavorable environmental conditions have to be overcome (play outside in the cold). They offer the waveforms sawtooth, triangle, rectangle/pulse, ring modulator and noise than can be crossfaded. Each oscillator offers also sync & FM and is each equipped with a sub-oscillator.

Two Analog Filters

Two analog filters are used per voice, which can be connected in series or in parallel. The low-pass filter works as a cascade filter with a slope of 24 dB / oct. and uses the popular SSI 2144. Multifilter and VCAs are based on OTA’s. Both filters can be modulated by different sources like an LFO or envelope.

Dual Analog VCA & Modulation Power

It is equipped with two analog VCAs that can be modulated like the filter by different sources.

On the modulation side, SYNTH PRO includes 2 LFOs with different waveforms that can be tempo-synced and used in a one-shot mode. Further, three envelope generators are onboard, two with an ADSR and one with an ADS(R) characteristic. Each envelope can be looped.

Effects, ARP /Sequencer & Storage

To refine the sounds, SYNTH PRO includes also a dedicated chip for the effects section. You can find here among other things a reverb, echo, chorus, flanger & more.

Friends of sequencers will also enjoy the built-in polyphonic step sequencer and monophonic arpeggiator. The sequencer has 240 memories and users can enter up to 16 x keys monophonic or polyphonic on a keyboard.

Patch Storage & MIDI CC

Sounds can be stored in the hardware in 240 memory locations. Whether there will be an editor is not known. Plus, the synth supports MIDI CC that allows you to control it from your DAW or any other MIDI controller.
