Buchla and Friends 2026: Make Noise New Universal Skiff System is a new modular Synthesizer designed for multi-channel modular synthesis.
In the past two years, Make Noise brought innovation to the Eurorack market with their N.U.S.S. system, taking a different approach to polyphony. Instead of forcing note-based polyphony into Eurorack, the new modules focus on polyphonic sound events.
For example, creating multiple, highly versatile but independent signals from a single input or an oscillator with eight colorful outputs. For the Buchla and Friends 2026 events, Make Noise has a multi-channel modular package.
Make Noise New Universal Skiff System
Make Noise unveiled the New Universal Skiff System, which integrates these novel modules into a compact multi-channel synthesis package. It consists of eight modules.
The MultiWAVE provides eight dual wavetable oscillators, the PoliMATHS provides eight complex function generators, and a pair of QXG modules combine for eight channels of low-pass gate with stereo mix animation.
Together, these three modules enable polyphonic patching from a simple set of controls.
In addition to the eight modulation channels of Polimaths, the MultiMOD creates eight time-shifted variants of a single control signal, further extending the mod capabilities of the New Universal Skiff System.
Also onboard are the QPAS multi-mode multi-peak stereo filter and the XHO, which provide the necessary I/O with a final stereo mix and line-level or headphone outputs.
The system also includes a new USB-C input module that can be used to activate MultiWAVE channels via MIDI or MPE signals from a USB MIDI host.
The base of the new Make Noise New Universal Skiff System is an all-new 3U Skiff case.
Make Noise 3U Skiff Case
The new 3U skiff case has 104HP and has updated specs. It now features a 2-zone bus board, providing nearly double the power of its predecessor. The multi-zone also makes it easy to isolate noise-susceptible or noise-causing modules from each other.
The low-profile power headers are shrouded for easy and efficient module installation. Neat, 5V power is still included. As before, the Skiff’s powder-coated aluminum construction is extremely durable.
The clean, simple lines and matte black color place visual emphasis where the action is; the patch the artist has created. It ships with 16 shrouded power headers, 40 sliding square nuts, 40 black M2.5 screws
First Impression
Offering the N.U.S.S. modules as a multi-channel synthesis system is a logical step. It’s great to see a new skiff case as well.
Make Noise New Universal Skiff System will be available for $2399 (MSRP) and has a retail value of $2681. You can also buy the new Skiff case for $349.
They have also introduced a new core bundle with all N.U.S.S modules for $1669 (Retail value: $1850). Plus, the new USB-C module is also available separately for $35.
