Doepfer has launched a new micro module series, including an ADSR, a MIDI-to-CV converter, an envelope-controlled VCA, and a buffer adjuster.
Superbooth 2026 starts in Berlin in just over a month. Dieter Doepfer, the inventor of the Eurorack format, will also be there again in its booth in the Bungalowdorf.
The wave of new announcements hasn’t started yet, but new Doepfer modules are already out. Whether more will be released for SB 2026 is unknown. For now, we have four new Doepfer micro modules.
Doepfer micro
With its new Micro series, Doepfer presents compact modules ranging from 2HP to 4HP.
The first new module is the A-140-3 Micro ADSR envelope. As the name suggests, it’s a compact 4HP single ADSR envelope based on the A-140-2, a module I’ve had in my rack for many years.
It contains an ADSR-type voltage-controlled envelope generator with exponential curve shapes with voltage control for the envelope parameters. The module has independent controls for each stage, giving you hands-on control.
The module has two envelope outputs and inputs for retrigger, gate, and CVT control. The second envelope output can be set to normal or inverted via a jumper. Also, via a jumper on the back, you can modify the CVT assignment.
The A-142-3 is the second new 4HP micro module and is a VCA controlled by an envelope. It is a combination of a linear VCA and an AD/AR envelope generator with exponential curve shapes. Neat, it also has an LFO mode.
Important note: the VCA is based on the CEM3381, is AC-coupled, so it’s suitable only for audio signals, not for CV processing. Like the Micro ADSR envelope, you can find different adjustment options on jumpers and trimmers on the backside.
More Micro Modules
That wasn’t all. There are two other new Doepfer micro modules. The A-180-6 is a new 4HP triple voltage buffer module with separately adjustable levels for each unit.
The maximum amplification is 1 (factory setting), but can be changed to 2 (by installing a solder bridge). According to the specs, inputs 2 and 3 are normalled to the preceding unit. So you can use it for distributing a single signal or up to three separate signals.
It’s also possible to normalize the input socket to +5V via a jumper. In this case, the module can also be used as a control voltage source. Then, it has a voltage range from 0…+5V or 0…+10V
The little star among the new Dopefer micro modules is the new A-190-9. It’s a simple 2HP monophonic MIDI-to-CV gate interface. It offers a 3.5mm stereo TRS socket as a MIDI, three CV outputs, including a 1v/oct, and two gate outputs.
Doepfer says that the module only responds to the note number of the MIDI note-on/off message, not to velocity, pitch bend, control change, or clock. You can scale the CV output using a multi-gang trimming potentiometer.
Further, you can pair it with the new A-155-2 Miniature Analog Sequencer and use it as a simpée breakout module for MIDI in/out. This is also possible with the A-198-2. And using this with the A-155-2 also allows you to output quantized CV from the sequencer.
First Impression
Four useful new compact modules from Doepfer. I’m pleased to see that you can now output quantized notes from the A-155-2 sequencer using the new MIDI module.
The new Doepfer micro modules are available now: A-140-3 for 99€/109€, A-180-6 for 69€, A-142-3 for 99€/109€ and the A-190-9 for 65€/70€.

I have the Doepfer slim line Dual VCA which has a exponential/linear curve switch. Fantastic and affordable. Until now, Doepfer hasn’t offered a slim line envelope. A bit disappointing the env doesn’t have an exp/lin switch.
