Tape Double Track by Air Music Tech is a new plugin for desktop & MPC/Force that emulates the ADT Automatic Double Tracking technique (1966)
The Air Music Tech/Akai Black Friday sale has been running for a while now. These deals are particularly interesting for plugins that also run on the standalone MPC/Force.
Like last year, they’re sweetening the BF sale with a new plugin release that is free for a limited time. Air Music Tech has today released Tape Double Track, a new plugin that recreates a famous studio technique from the past.
Tape Double Track (Air Music Tech)
Air Music Tech’s latest desktop/MPC plugin recreates the classic 1966 Automatic Double Tracking (ADT) studio technique.
“With Tape Double Track, we wanted to honor one of recording’s most iconic studio innovations and make it accessible to every music make,” said Neal Gustafson, software marketing manager at AIR Music Tech.
This is not just another doubling plugin, it’s a faithful recreation of the original tape-based technique, enhanced with modern flexibility, and free for a limited time”.
Tape Double Track recreates this technique by combining authentic tape delay and varispeed modulation. The plugin also offers modern additions not available back then.
Key features include true ADT behavior with tape delay and oscillator-driven varispeed. Then, it has built-in modulation with various shapes, including sine, triangle, and random, that weren’t part of the original 1966 design.
Also onboard are new randomize and recalibrate functions to emulate tape imperfections, as well as independent pan, drive, mute, phase, and level controls. Plus, it includes bass mono/solo options with frequency control.
First Impression
A beautiful, unique free plugin from Air Music Tech for the community this year. I hope that by 2026, we’ll see fewer plugins with tape or lo-fi effects. I guess we have reached an oversaturation.
Tape Double Track is available for free download on the official website until December 7th, 2025. On December 8th, 2025, it will be $99.
It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows, and on MPC standalone/Force. The Black Friday sale with up to 85% OFF on plugins is valid until December 7th, 2025.

was für ein absurdes ki-erklär-video. hat sich das mal irgendwer angeschaut? was für ein müll.
ansonsten: doubletrack ist schon noch n bisschen mehr als ein lofi tape simulator.
