Pure Data to Korg Logue SDK1, NTS-1 mkII, and NTS-3: these web apps make it possible

Pure Data patches to Korg Logue SDK1, NTS-1 mkII, and NTS-3 Kaoss Pad are now possible with the new free Boochow Instruments web apps.

In September, I reported on the possibility of loading simple Pure Data patches onto the Korg NTS-1 mkII Synthesizer. An excellent way to build new oscillators and effects.

This week, Boochow Instruments released another free web app, completing almost the Logue SDK family. In addition to Logue SDK1 and NTS-1 mk2, Pure Data patches can now also be loaded onto the Korg NTS-3 Kaoss Pad.

Pure Data To Logue

Pure Data is a free, open-source visual programming language that allows you to develop your own synthesizers, samplers, effects, etc., without resorting to traditional programming languages.

Until now, programming these user oscillators and effects has been geared toward musicians who are familiar with programming languages such as C++ and similar languages.

This changed in September with Boochow Instruments’ first web app. Now, Pure Data to SDK Logue works on all SDK1 Logue devices, the NTS-1 MkII, and the newly added NTS-3 Kaoss Pad.

Pure Data to Logue

The conversion process is simple. You open the website, upload your patch to the platform, and you receive the appropriate file. Just be careful of the storage space, as it’s limited on all SDK Logue devices.

Boochow Instruments explained in the comments of the previous article that the most complex patch he created was a 7-channel vocoder with 14 bandpass filters, seven envelope followers, two highpass filters, and three phasors (native oscs).

First Impression

I’m pleased to see that Boochow Instruments has now made this possible for the NTS-3 as well. This means that whether you’re using a first- or second-generation device, you can now load your Pure Patches into them.

Boochow Instruments’ Pure Data to Logue SDK web apps are available for free. Various test patches are available on the official website. Please consider donating to the developer for this release.

  1. Changed in September? The MK1 version and first web app was released back in March/April of this year, not September.

Hopefully we can one day merge this into the main HVCC code so you can program your Logue devices directly from the DAW using plugdata.

    • I reported the first time in September about it that why I wrote “changed in September” 🙂 but it changes before 🙂

  2. The NTS-3 Kaoss Pad is one of the most fun, great sounding, cheap, small, pedal thing, piece of kit you could ever get. Mine has its own little corner always connected to the patch panel.
