Superbooth 2025: XOR Electronics NerdSEQ 3.0 is an upcoming firmware update for the tracker sequencer, adding video synthesis.

Many Eurorack sequencer modules follow classic concepts that have been around for many years. These are mostly step sequencers, but enhanced with creative features like probability and more. Thomas from XOR Electronics took a different approach from the very beginning with his NerdSEQ.

He revived the retro tracker workflow and embedded it in a modern Eurorack sequencer. Over the past few years, a vast number of features have been added. For Superbooth 2025, XOR Electronics will unveil NerdSEQ firmware 3.0, taking it into new visual fields.

The NerdSEQ is far more than just a sophisticated sequencer for the modular world. XOR Electronics has expanded the NerdSEQ so intensively over the last years that it’s now a multi-timbral sound generator, effects processor, and modulator.

It has six tracks for CV and trigger, 2×2 audio tracks for sequencing samples, and integrated oscillators and 4-operator FM synthesis. Additionally, you have 18 outputs for modulation generation. If I were to list all the features, it would fill page after page.

For Superbooth 2025, the feature list of the XOR Electronics NerdSEQ will grow again with firmware 3.0. It will introduce video synthesis to NerdSEQ, and its dedicated video expander will gain shader functionality with numerous integrated modulators.

The new functionality is intended to give musicians the possibility to merge audio and visual sequencing in one device.

First Impression

It’s crazy how many features the developer has already packed into the NerdSEQ. Now he’s adding video synthesis, which usually requires dedicated video modules.  What’s next: playing Doom with controller support or making coffee with CV-control. Big like for this module support.

XOR Electronics NerdSEQ 3.0 will be released at the beginning of June. You can explore the new firmware at Superbooth 2025 at the booth Z235.
