NUSofting Psicogramma Key is a new free waveshaper FM Synthesizer plugin featuring the new MFX multi-effects processor.
This morning, I wrote about the Italian developer NUSofting and the comeback of its EDP WASP Synthesizer emulation daHornet bis. It now also runs on modern systems such as macOS Apple Silicon. At that time, I didn’t know that Luigi, the developer, had something new ready for release.
NUSofting has released Psicogramma Key, a new free Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows. The plugin exists because the developer wants to offer a way to showcase its new MFX effects engine in a fun way that is available separately.
NUSofting Psicogramma Key
Psicogramma Key is a new free Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows. It features a single oscillator that can be mangled with waveshaping and FM. Additionally, you can add a noise generator to the main signal.
Interestingly, the NUSofting Psicogramma Key doesn’t host a filter for manipulating the signals further. Then, you can shape the oscillator sound with an analog-style ADSR envelope routable to the amplitude and timbre control. There is also a vibrato control.
The built-in Piscogramma MFX is a highlight and the reason this free synth exists. It’s a multi-FX processor that hosts an octave with 8va up or down, a reverse delay with more experimental AM and FM modulations, a diffusion reverb, a two-control flanger, and a tilt EQ.

Do you have custom sounds and want to store them? No problem. The plugin ships with an advanced preset manager with batch edit functionality. The fully resizable GUI also features alternative graphics and extended tooltips for all controls.
According to NUSofting, there are also non-adjustable features like the pitch bend range (2ST), the mod wheel to vibrato assignment, and more.
NUSofting Psicogramma MFX
The NUSofting Psicogramma MFX is also available for anyone who wants to use the psychedelic effects engine with other sounds in the DAW. This isn’t free, but it gives you the MFX engine as a dedicated FX plugin for macOS and Windows for a few bucks.
It includes the same full effects engine, also available in the Synthesizer.
First Impression
Any new free Synthesizer for macOS and Windows is always welcome. To be honest, the synth engine package isn’t anything super exciting or unusual. However, Psicogramma Key comes alive and worthwhile when you combine the synth with the built-in MFX effects engine.
That makes more sense as a synth and sounds unique to me. It’s great that you can also get the MFX engine separately for some developer support.
NUSofting Psicogramma Key is a free download and runs as a VST2, VST3, and AU plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. The MFX multi-FX plugin is available for an introductory price of $9 instead of $15. It has the exact operation system specifications of the synth.
