NAMM 2025: Studiologic SL mk2 is the second generation of its MIDI controllers with hammer-action keyboards and a built-in audio interface.

Classic audio interfaces and MIDI keyboards/controllers are popular products shown at NAMM every year. This year, there are also many new releases.

Studiologic, the sister company of the Italian keybed manufacturer FATAR, has unveiled the SL mk2 series with three new MIDI keyboards in Anaheim.

NAMM 2025 introduces three new SL Mk2 MIDI controller keyboards. The SL73 and SL88 have the premium, weighted hammer-action FATAR TP/110 keybed, designed for minimized bounce and enhanced aftertouch.

Studiologic says it offers a weighted mechanism that blends lightweight portability with solid playability.

The Porsche among the new Studiologic SL mk2 keyboards is the SL88GT, which has a new TP/400 wood keybed. Studiologic promises a playing experience remarkably similar to an acoustic grand piano. It offers a precise hammer action mechanism and wooden keys.

All three new SL mk2 keyboards feature the new UX Logic, first introduced with the Numa X Piano. This new UI features a control panel with endless color-coded encoders, a display, transport controls and various buttons. Its goal is to make navigation intuitive and effortless.

You can programm up to four zones, and store up to 100 programs and 24 program groups in the hardware.

Studiologic’s own protocol SL Link, which connects to various external apps, is also at the heart of the new keyboard. With these, everything stays in sync. The keyboard ships with the Numa Player 2, a virtual instrument packed with high-quality, ready-to-use sounds.

MIDI 2.0 And Audio Interface

The Italian development team has also ensured that the keyboards are up to date. There is MIDI 2.0 support that brings greater resolution, richer dynamics, and unprecedented precision. MIDI 2.0 makes the keyboards ready for the future. No wheels onboard but two aluminum sticks

Something that makes me very happy is on the back. Studiologic has built audio interfaces into the SL Mk2. Okay, it only offers an L/R 2x mono/stereo output and a headphone socket, but it’s nice to see that they decided on this option. This lets you play virtual instruments and output the sound with one device.

Connectivity

On the backside, you can find a Kensington lock, a USB-C port for audio and data, a 5-pin MIDI interface, three pedal inputs, and dual audio outputs for stereo  sound and a headphone jack. And the SL Mk2 are bus powered via USB-C.

First Impression

Three intruiging new professional MIDI keyboards. I think it’s great that all three have a built-in USB-C audio interface. It’s a shame that StudioLogic isn’t showing a polyphonic aftertouch keyboard at NAMM this year because FATAR has the keybed in its portfolio.

The new Studiologic SL mk2 will be available in March 2025.
