Maneco Labs and Infinite Digits turn Zeptocore sample player into a Eurorack module

Maneco Labs and Infinite Digits have turned Zeptocore, an open-source breakbeat sample player, into a Eurorack module.

Last year, I reported on the exciting open-source project Zeptocore from Infinite Digits. It’s a portable sampler focused on breakbeats, packed with colorful effects and internal sequencing.

Infinite Digits has teamed up with Maneco Labs and released a Eurorack version of the Zeptocore.

Like the handheld version, it’s a breakbeat stereo sample player that plays 16-bit audio files and uses a 44.1 kHz sampling rate playback engine. Samples are imported and streamed via a microSD card.

The engine can recall up to 256 audio files sorted in 16 banks of 16 tracks. You can modify the samples in real time with three parameters: pitch, tempo, and volume. Zeptocore also offers a mode that allows you to use it as a single-cycle wavetable Synthesizer.

For more advanced sound shaping, it offers 16 colorful live-switchable effects, including classic and wild ones. You can find saturation, loss (LoFi), fuzz, bit crush, time-stretch, delay, comb filter, repeat, tighten (gates audio), expand, circulate (pan), scratch, lower (lowpass filter), reverse, and tape stop.

The Maneco Labs Eurorack version of the Infinite Digital Zeptocore also comes with three distinct play modes: manual trigger, loops, or retrigger samples for dynamic performance effects.

Then, the mash mode transforms the 16 keys into toggles for activating/deactivating effects great for adding texture to a sample. In bass mode, the unit assigns bass notes to the 16 keys, allowing you to play melodic basslines directly from the device.

Zeptocore Eurorack also has the breakbeat-oriented real-time sequencer with optional quantization onboard. On the connection side, it has a trigger output, a clock input, and stereo output sockets.
