AIR Multiband Filterbank is a new advanced multiband filter plugin for macOS, Windows, and MPC standalone; it’s a FREE download for Black Friday.

Black Friday is the time for big discounts on plugins. But it is also the time for gifts. Many developers give away plugins to their customers. Air Music Tech also. After giving away the Bassline Synthesizer last year, they have something new for this season.

AIR has just released Multiband Filterbank, a new creative filter plugin for desktop and MPC hardware. The best news: it’s a FREE download during Black Friday weekend.

AIR Multiband Filterbank

Multiband Filterbank is a new filter plugin with a solid feature set inspired by legendary vintage hardware filter units. Unlike many classic filter plugins, it works on a multiband level, specifically on three bands: low, mid, and high.

Exciting: the functions that you would normally have on one band are here available on all three. Each band in AIR Multiband Filterbank offers five filter types to choose from: lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch, and peak. They are fully tweakable in each band with classic cutoff and resonance controls.

This is a wide selection of filter types that gives you plenty of sound shaping scope. Then, you can apply a pre-drive per band, giving you more flexibility to manipulate your original sound.

Yes, AIR Multiband Filterbank also has modulation onboard. Yes, also per band. In each, you can find a envelope follower with raise, fall, gain and amount controls. Using the mod parameter in each band, you can you precisely portion how much modulation goes to the filter.

Plus, you can tweak the envelope follower behaviour in each band with three presets: low follow, mid follow, and high follow. On the top of the in AIR Multiband Filterbank UI, you also get a intuitive and multi frequence crossfade function with a live spectrum display, allowing you to precisely set the multiband filtering process.

Further, it hosts an output level control and ships with a wide range of factory presets. A handy solo function per band is also available.

First Impression

I was able to play around with the new Multiband Filterbank plugin a little earlier. I can say it’s not a groundbreaking, revolutionary new plugin. Nope, but it’s a very creative tool with a wide range of applications.

It can help you fine-tune individual sounds or entire mixes. Alternatively, you can also use it to do creative filtering: for example, moving, bumping effects and more. For $99 I would choose a different filter plugin on desktop but as long as it’s free, you shouldn’t miss it. Especially if you’re an MPC user.

AIR Multiband Filterbank is available as a free download only from November 29th at 12am ET through December 2nd at 11:59pm ET. After this promotion, it will cost $99.

It runs as a VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows. Plus, it runs as a plugin on hardware MPCs.  Don’t miss the Air Music Tech Black Friday sale with discounts up to 80% OFF on desktop and MPC plugins.
