French sound designer Pulsophonic has released three free patch libraries with 111 new sounds for the unique Kodamo MASK 1 digital Synthesizer.
Let’s stay with polyphonic synthesizers and sounds. The Mask 1 from the French company Kodamo came onto the market last year. This digital Synthesizer combines novel bitmask synthesis with an unusual button-based user interface.
This unique-sounding polysynth has not yet made a big splash and is still flying under the radar of many. It’s a shame, as it’s a very original synth in terms of sound. Pulsophonic, a French developer, has recently released three free sound banks for Mask 1 that showcase its sonic qualities.
Pulsophonic Kodamo Mask 1
The first sound bank has 51 new sounds for the Kodamo Mask 1, ranging from classic bread-and-butter to experimental sounds. Many of them allow you to hear the special bitmask character of the Mask synth early on.
Then, the second is about Mask 1’s bass capabilities. It contains 20 varied, colorful bass sounds. Besides this, it also comes with the “Unmasked” sound bank.
This offers 40 sounds reminiscent of the legendary vintage synths, including the Yamaha CS-80, Elka SYNTHEX, or the Moog Minimoog.
Plus, it includes drones, and effects and sounds are specially tailored to the bitmask synthesis engine.
First Impression
At first glance, very lovely free sounds for the Kodamo Mask 1 Synthesizer. In my opinion, they show what this polysynth can do.
The new Pulsophonic patch libraries for the Kodamo MASK 1 are now available for free download.
