Behringer has released the UB-Xa 2.0 firmware update for its analog polysynth (OB-Xa clone/replica) with new features and improvements.

The UB-Xa is Behringer’s first vintage polysynth replica release in a long list of yet to come instruments. It is more precisely a clone/replica of the Oberheim OB-Xa from 1980.

However, it is more than just a 1-to-1 clone/replica. It continues the design, for example with a polyphonic aftertouch keybed and double voices. Since the summer, the version is also available in the space-saving UB-Xa D desktop version. Users of the UB-Xa can rejoice, there is a big 2.0 firmware update.

The new UB-Xa 2.0 firmware update introduces various new features, and improvements. A new function of the firmware 2.0 is about patch saving.

You can now save and recall patches with more precision by including the atrophy profiles, filter, VCO, VCF, and LFO settings. The ability to save the astrophy profiles was a big feature request from the synth community.

According to Behringer, they also editing of the filter resonance, giving you more precision in editing. Then, you can explore new envelope modulation modes, including flip, retrigger, repeat, loop, and legato.

These new envelope options are joined by an expanded modulation matrix. It now includes new destinations and sources, giving you more ways to modulate your parameters.

Behringer also improved the dual mode and aftertouch of the UB-Xa Synthesizer for a richer, more expressive playing experience. Same for the SysEX and oscillator settings. They are now more smoother, says the developers.

There are also performance improvements, including better global tranpose and enhanced live performance option to make it easier to take your sound to the stage.

Further, it also comes with bug fixes:

  • No more ‘thumping’ sound when triggering envelopes—your sound is now crystal clear.
  • The mod wheel now behaves perfectly, giving you full control over your LFO modulation.
