Superbooth 24: Larix Elektro 4TOMS is a new quad percussive Synthesizer voice for Eurorack with a built-in stereo mixer.
The new company Larix Elektro from France celebrated its premiere at SynthFest France 2023. It is a young company that develops Eurorack modules. The first were the Ritournelle module series.
Raphael from Larix Elektro is also at the Superbooth for the first time this year. At Superbooth 24, he will show a new drum voice.
Larix Elektro 4TOMS
4TOMS is a new quad percussive synth voice that is capable of generating various percussive sounds, including drums, kicks, rimshots, and more.
Each voice has four parameters: tune, tone, accent, and decay where three parameters (tune, accent, decay) are CV controllable. According to Larix Elektro, the voices have different pitch settings.
More precisely, voices 1 and 3 have a lower pitch than 2 and 4. Voices 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 are normalled, unlocking more complex drum sounds.
A highlight of the new 4TOMS quad percussive voice is its built-in stereo mixer. It provides volume and pan for each voice with dedicated small potentiometers. Each voice also offers a CUT input that forces the signal to zero (as applying the hand on the Drum Skin to stop the sound).
On the connection side, there are individual inputs and outputs for each voice, a stereo mix out, as well as a mappable CV input. The latter can be modified on the backside. Raphael, the developer also say that all critical capacitors of the module are through holes, allowing for easy modifications.
First Impression
The new Larix Elektro 4TOMS is a beautiful, very hands-on and easy to use quad percussive voice. It is not the most extensive but one that you can quickly get results from.
Larix Elektro 4TOMS is now available as an assembled version for 340€. A DIY version is also ready. Larix Elektro will have a booth (Z063) at Superbooth 24.
