Goremall has recently updated its free unique Synthesizer ensembles, which every Reaktor (full version) user should try.
Christmas is around the corner, and many are preparing for their holidays. Also, the music tech business. Fewer releases, many say goodbye until next year… For me, it’s a perfect moment to look at things that are just as fascinating but often don’t have the time—for example, the Reaktor community. BTW: Reaktor 6 sells for 99,50€ (50% OFF) during the holidays.
Developer Goremall has updated its six free Synthesizer ensembles in the last few days with fresh sounds, new UIs, and more. These are six unique and must-try instruments for Reaktor (full version) users.
Goremall Reaktor Instruments
There are six free Reaktor ensembles from Goremall in the Native Instruments Reaktor User Library. A very underrated library of fascinating synths, effects, MIDI generators that is alone worth the purchase of the full version. Yes, you need the full version of Reaktor 6 for all of them.
Reaktor Player is not supported. You can read why this is the case in a dedicated article on Kontakt Player, which also applies to third-party Reaktor instruments.
Don’t be put off by the GUI choice. Each instrument takes you into a different, crazy world. Everything is there, from dreamlike and magical to adult-style anime/manga worlds.
Wave Witch 2
In the first Reaktor ensemble, Goremall lets out the witch of waveforms. Wave With V2 is a polyphonic Synthesizer and is described as a subtractive retro-themed evil synth.
It has various oscillators (multi-saw, morph wave, and VA-style), a multimode, and a solid multi-FX section with delay, reverb, compressor, and more.
All this can be automated with a flexible modulation with a multi-segment LFO with tweakable patterns, an amp envelope, and more. It is an instrument on the aggressive, dark sound side, perfect for industrial and other areas where distorted sounds are popular.
Cannibella V5
It’s time to dive into a different sonic world. Cannibella V5 takes you into a very magical and spooky world. It’s a hybrid instrument that combines FM with wavetable synthesis and sample playback.
The engine consists of a choir part with sample-based sounds and an FM synth part with adjustable parameters. Then, you get a sub-oscillator with various timbre presets, six fully adjustable envelopes, three on each side, filtering, and more.
You can activate the spider tomb section on the bottom of the instrument. This consists of another layer of 30 sample-based sounds that take you patches even further in the horrified, frightening worlds. Perfect for creating a soundtrack for your next horror movie.
Ravelady V5
Then, Ravelady V5 is a groovebox and drum machine for Reaktor 6. The engine is a mix of step sequencing and loops. There are different versions of kick and snare, each with a step sequencer that you can adjust.
On two desks, you can work with the built-in loops with the option to change the start and end position of looping. Besides this, you get filters and different effects, including overdrive, stutter, comb filtering, and more to apply to the sounds.
Not the deepest groove box I’ve ever seen, but a fun one for Reaktor.
Bella-FM V2
I think Gormall has a love for FM synthesis. Bella-FM V2 is a 4-operator FM Synthesizer that takes inspiration from music from films by Tim Burton.
The core consists of 4 operators that can be adjusted flexibly with a matrix. For an FM synth, the operation is effortless. Well done.
In addition, you can work with a sub-oscillator with various timbres, up to six multi-segment envelopes, and a unique toys section. In this, you can give your sound a more toyish or vocal-ish anime-like character.
Don’t forget that you can also refine your sound with effects, including an EQ, chorus, delay, reverb, and compressor. It’s a nice 4OP FM synth with great presets. A Reaktor highlight for sure
Choirbella V3
In addition to FM Synthesis, the developer seems to really like choirs. Choirbella V3, as the name suggests, is a sample-based choir instrument ensemble with a heavily influenced anime/manga interface.
Choirbella V3 has two layers with dedicated levels, effects, and EQ. You can choose from various male, female, and synthetic vocals. On top, you can work on each layer with dedicated multi-segment envelopes for the amp and pitch.
To add body to your patches, it also hosts a sub-oscillator with own shaping and modulation options. Additional reverb and compressor give you more finalizing options.
It is a beautiful, playful choir virtual instrument with many excellent patches. Of course, there are much higher-quality choir libraries out there (Kontakt…) but seen in the Reaktor context and the free nature, it’s a great instrument. Nice job.
Ravenous V3
Lastly, we go back to more classic virtual analog synth sounds. The developer says Ravenous V3 is a subtractive synth for retro horror music.
Ravenous V3 is a virtual analog Synthesizer with two layers. Each layer features a multi-wave oscillator, a multimode filter, and two multi-segment envelopes for the amp and filter.
A sub-oscillator-like sound generator supports these two layers. This has horror-inspired sample-based sounds that you can layer under the main sounds. The extra horror infusion works. You can add a more horrifying timbre to your classic VA sounds.
Further, there are different effects, including reverb, echo, limiter, bit-crusher, and chorus. For additional movement, it also has two independent 8-step sequencers. Visually, the instrument reflects less of its horror nature. Images of various, lightly accompanied anime/manga women dominate here.
The sound has to be convincing rather than the visuals. That’s what it does here. Ravenous V3 has lots of lovely, aggressive sounds.
First Impression
Six beautiful free synthesizer ensembles you should miss. Thanks to the new updates, these have come back into my focus. If you want to support Goremall’s work, you can also find commercial ensembles starting at $9,99 on its website. Thanks for these instruments.
The Goremall Reaktor synthesizer ensembles are available as a free download in the Native Instruments Reaktor User Library. The commercial ensembles are available on Goremalls’ official website.
