Kilohearts has updated its Phase Plant multi-engine Synthesizer plugin with granular synthesis and a new sample editor.
Is granular the new wavetable? If you look at the latest software releases, many have granular synthesis as a core feature or got it as an update. In February the granular processor Emergence v1.0 and BLEASS SampleWiz 2, and in March, the AQusmatiq Dedalus granular delay. Then Babuma’s Devices Whistle 2, a granular/physical modeling synth for Max for Live, and last weekend also Togu Audio Line updated its TAL-Sampler with granular.
And the popular Kilohearts Phase Plant multi-engine Synthesizer now also has granular synthesis. We definitely live in a time where we are very spoiled with granular processors.
Kilohearts Phase Plant Granular
The new granular generator can be loaded with any sample you like and benefits from all the usual advantages of being integrated into Phase Plant. It includes every parameter you need in a granular synth. All this is controllable with modulation, automation, and external controllers.
Phase Plant’s granular engine includes three grain spawn timing modes: rate, sync, and density. You can set the synth with the parameters: levels, semi-cent, harmonic, shift, position, timing, phase, grain envelope, and more. There is also a chord mode allowing you to trigger grains at different pitches from a variety of available chords.
Sample Editor
The new update also includes the new Sample Editor, which allows you to quickly snip, slice, adjust, and preview your samples in real time as you develop your patches. It also ships with new samples and presets.
First Impression
A nice update for Kilohearts Phase Plant which makes the synth even more versatile and deeper. I find it particularly good that the upgrade is free and is not packed in a 2.0 paid upgrade.
The new Kilohearts Phase Plant granular update is available now for free for existing users. Phase Plant is available now for 199€
