Audient has expanded its beloved EVO lineup with the SP8, a new 8-channel preamp expander with smartgain, ADAT I/O connectivity, and more.
Last summer, Audient released the EVO 16, a 24-input/output channel audio interface with many smart features at a very affordable price. The interface, which I haven’t tested, has received much positive feedback from the music tech community.
The latest addition to the EVO lineup is the SP8, a new smart preamp expander allowing you to extend your audio interface with more channels.
“Bigger sessions demand more channels and expanding your existing audio interface via ADAT might be the most cost-effective solution to scale up your studio,” says Audient/EVO marketing director, Andy Allen.

Audient EVO SP8
EVO SP8 is a new 24bit / 96kHz preamp expander with 8 mic/line inputs, 8 line outputs, 2x JFET instrument inputs, and 2x ADAT I/O connections. The EVO Mic preamps provide 58dB Mic Gain, while its advanced 32-bit converter technology offers 121dB dynamic range.
Like the EVO 16, the new SP8 benefits from the unique smartgain functionality that automatically sets the gain of all 8 channels at once with the touch of a button.
SP8 is compatible with the EVO 16 and all other audio interfaces with built-in ADAT connectivity. It gives your existing audio interface 8 more channels with smartgain. SP8 also features Audient’s easy-to-use motion UI consisting of a high-resolution, full-color LCD screen and a single one-knob. With this, you get real-time status of your channels.
And the latest EVO addition is also made of a solid steel chassis with non-slip rubber feet making it handy on a desktop, in a portable rig, or as a permanent fixture in the studio. Nice, you can also get additional rack-ears for mounting in a rack. There is also a word clock input on the back.
Looks like a very neat preamp expander for the EVO line. But also for any other audio interface. And again very attractively priced.
Audient EVO SP8 will be available in the first quarter of 2023 for £399 inc VAT, €449 inc local VAT, and $499 MAP.
