Elektron has released new firmware updates for the Digitakt, Digitone series, and Syntakt adding the long-awaited song mode, and more.
The Digitakt, Digitone, Digitone Keys, and Syntakt aka the Elektron Digi series are currently one of the most popular grooveboxes on the market. This is because the machines are very compact, offer a lot of functionality, and are very intuitive to use.
However, the devices were missing one big thing from the start, a song mode. This is now available as a free update for the entire Digis family
Elektron Song Mode Update
It was the top request feature for most users. With the latest firmware, Digitakt, Digitone, Digitone Keys, and Syntakt users can benefit from a new song mode. The new mode allows you to create, edit and play compositions made up of dozens of your patterns.
This makes it a hugely useful feature for all kinds of scenarios and for all kinds of artists. Great here is that you can go beyond the classic 64-step sequencer of these units. You can now program longer phrases or even entire setlists in a single song.
Besides the new song mode, Elektron also added new creative function across the Digis lineup.
Other New Features
The Digitakt, Digitone, and Digitone Keys also got a new chromatic mode with additional features like keyboard fold and scales. Then they renamed options in the sound operations menu in the sound manager (Import to TRK > Load to TRK, Export to hear – save to hear). Plus, they fixed some bugs from previous firmware updates.
There are also some cool other additions to the Syntakt. Here you can benefit from a new portamento, legato, pitch bend depth settings, and a new note priority setting for playing. You can also select now how the velocity will affect the amp volume when playing the sound using the velocity to vol parameter.
Also new is a filter envelope reset parameter and a new global FX/mix menu. The latter allows you to set the parameters on the internal mixer, external mixer, and the FX track’s Syn, filter, amp, delay, reverb, LFO pages to the global. Further, you can toggle the mute mode while the sound browser is open.
Lastly, it is now possible to set the digital tracks (T1-T8) to USB out in the audio routing menu. And of course, they fixed bugs from the previous firmware updates.
