Erica Synths Black Ring-Xfade puts two unconventional ring modulators in close relation to a crossfader and VCA for creating unique shaping effects.
Almost every day there is new modular food for the Eurorack world. In the form of new modules, cables, cases, etc. The market is still very active. Erica Synths from Latvia under the direction of Girts Ozolins is one of the hardest working companies when it comes to new releases.
Since April 1st there have been 6 new modules (Black ASR EG, Black BBD…) and now there is the next one named Black Ring-Xfade.
Erica Synths Black Ring-Xfade
Black Ring-Xfade combines two unconventional ring modulators/waveshapers paired with a crossfader that works both for audio and CV. Plus a VCA. What the module is different from any classic ring modulation is how it processes the signal. BRX doesn’t require a signal on both signal and carrier inputs. It passes through the signal without alteration if no carrier is present. As a result, the module generates unique waveshaping.
The built-in voltage-controlled crossfader can be set between the two ring modulators or an external signal topped up with the VCA. The latter offers selectable bias. In this association, you can achieve very wild and flexible amplitude modulation effects. So seen is the Black Ring-Xfade much more than just a double ring modulator. It’s a waveshaper, ring modulator, and amp modulator in one sleek, black module.
Erica Synths Ring-Xfade is available now for 150€ (without taxes) or $189 USD MAP.
