Ekssperimental Sounds DRUMSYN brings the timbres and the workflow of the beloved Pearl Syncussion SY-1 drum Synthesizer to Reason as a rack extension.
In the last few days some nice rack extensions have been launched that shouldn’t be missed. After the WTFM Synthesizer, Ekssperimental Sounds also has something new to offer. The developers have already released very interesting and solid Synthesizer Rack Extensions in the past like the ES101 or ES-01 both analog-style synths.
DRUMSYN is the latest release and is a drum Synthesizer that captures the spirit of the vintage Pearl Syncussion SY-1. For many techno and electro musicians, the SY-1 is a secret sound design weapon. For others, it’s just a lovely sounding drum synth from the past. The developer does not mention the original unit in the description, but you can clearly see the template by the interface
Ekssperimental Sounds DRUMSYN
DRUMSYN features the same set of controls as the original. The tune, decay, width, sweep, LFO, and more. That’s not all. Ekssperimental Sounds added some new functionalities including a patch bank, LFO sync, virtual CV inputs, audio thru, panning, and tweakable parameters via trimmers on the backside. Combine two instances, you can resemble the original unit says the developer.
Like the original, the DRUMSYN is capable of creating very quirky drum sounds, hard-hitting kicks, and metallic bleeps and bloops. It’s not just a drum synth, you can also play it like a traditional Synthesizer. The rack extension ships with over 200 ready-to-use patches. Probably not the super versatile drum Synthesizer but if you are looking for these specific timbres from the Pearl Syncussion SY-1 as a Reason/Rack plugin user then this RE can be interesting. Sound demos are available in the RE shop.
Ekssperimental Sounds DRUMSYN is available now for an introductory price of 43€ (40% OFF) until end of February 2021. The regular price is 74€. Like all RE, you can try it out for 30 days for free.
