Audiority Pyros Versio is a free multi-mode stereo distortion for the Noise Engineering Versio based on their Pyros distortion plugin.
Noise Engineering’s Platform version has grown nicely this year (2026). At the beginning of the year, a third-party developer released Blue Nautilus Acidus, a TB-303 emulation. This week saw the addition of WTF!, a granular beat-repeat FX by DUB-Rusell.
There’s another fantastic release. Audiority has ported its Pyros distortion plugin to Versio, turning the module into a multi-mode stereo distortion FX. The best thing it’s free of charge. Swap the firmware, and you’re off to go.
Audiority Pyros Versio
Pyros Versio is a new digital stereo distortion FX for the Noise Engineering Versio platform. According to Audiority, Pyros Versio is a port of their Pyros plugin.
Unlike the plugin, it offers 9 distinct distortion algorithms rather than 25. Okay, 9 are better than no new distortion FX for the Versio. They can be selected with the dipswitch and range from mild to very aggressive, including:
- saturation
- soft clip
- rectifier
- rebus (The Abuser algorithm)
- hyberpolic
- soft fold (soft wave folder)
- filfth ( inverse root distortion)
- reduce
- crush
From battered vintage grit to sharp modern aggression, Pyros Versio delivers a rich, musical distortion voice that can shape, smash, and completely reframe anything you feed it, the developer says.
There is also a pre-distortion lowpass filter cut as well as a post-distortion highpass cut. Additionally, hands-on controls over the input biasing (asymmetrical distortions), bipolar feedback, and an intriguing radio mode.
The radio mode creates an old radio effect, adding background noise and heavily filtering the output signal. Alongside the full stereo I/O of the module, you also have full CV control over the parameters.
First Impression
This is a great Easter present for the Versio community. It sounds really great and filthy in the official demo and is a lot of fun. Thanks a lot, Audiority.
With all the new algorithms, I’m afraid I’ll get GAS and end up with a second Versio in my rack.
Audiority Pyros Versio is available now for free download from the official website. It’s compatible with any Versio module. The Pryros plugin is available now for 45€.
