Reason Studios has introduced new lower pricing on its products, Rack is now available as a separate product, and new tools for Reason+.
It was announced at the beginning that LANDR had bought the Swedish company Reason Studios. The official announcement clarified that development will continue and will be more intensive than before.
Now comes the first decision of the new management. Reason Studios has introduced lower pricing for its products, making them more accessible.
Reason Studios Lower Pricing
New lower pricing for the Reason Studio family. LANDR, the new management is taking action and making many things more affordable.
First, Reason Rack is now available on its own for $199 as a plugin for creators that already have a preferred DAW and just want more affordable access to Reason’s 60+ instruments, effects, and modular workflow.
The decision is very good, as I have wanted this for a long time. Alternatively, you can get the Reason Rack as a subscription at $11,99/month or $99/year.
Then, Reason DAW is now available at a new, lower price of $299 (down from $499), making its powerful, full-featured production environment more affordable for a wide range of creators.
The DAW market is highly competitive, and taking this step makes sense. $499 was too much in my opinion. DAWs like Bitwig Studio, Logic Pro, and others remain available for less.
There is also a change for the Reason+ subscription. Reason+ is now available for $169 per year, down from $199. That’s not all.
Subscribers will also receive additional value by consolidating creative tools and services previously accessed through separate subscriptions.
This expanded offering includes professional AI mastering, global music distribution, a library of over 3 million samples, more than 20 plugins, and AI-powered tools such as stem separation, vocal restoration, and sample adaptation
In detail: unlimited AI STEM separation. AI mastering and distribution by LANDR. Plus 1800 samples credits and $500 worth of plugins.
Artists have been clear about wanting more flexibility, features and value. These changes are designed to deliver on those needs while preserving the creative workflow that makes Reason unique.

You only get the “Reason+” version, with all the instruments included, when you subscribe. You currently cannot buy the “plus” version 🙁
that will not change
The new pricing and standalone RRP are such a smart first move by Landr, it bodes well for the possibility of bringing back Reason Suite in the future. Maybe with Reason 14.
Too late, I already moved over to Bitwig when their prices ramped up and they failed to improve the sequencer appreciably.
So Reason is going to be subscription based as Adobe to get full futures. 🤔. That will note end well. Many long time Adobe users ditching Adobe software for the “buy once use as long as you want” programs.
Reason is available as subscription since many years. It’s called Reason+. The perceptual license option is still available and don’t plan to remove it.
Will the VST still be available with THE perpetual license for the full version of reason?
Yes
Hopefully perpetual update prices will change as well – different price tiers based on the version you own.
The new « upgrade » prices are right. Having the same prices whatever version you have is great, it allows to « pass » a new version if it doesn’t please you enough.
It’s about time; I’ve been wanting to see this kind of changes for years.
I’m new to Reason.
What are the main differences between Reason RACK & Reason DAW ?
Reason Rack offers the instruments + effects and its modular workflow as an instrument/FX plugin
