FAC Bandit 2 is a new AUv3 multiband multi-FX processor plugin for iOS and macOS with five distinct algorithms.
In 2019, Fred Anton Corvest, aka FAC, released the Bandit FX processor. A unique feature of this app at the time was its multiband processing option, which was available in only a few apps.
Seven years after its release, we have a different perspective on the iOS market. Many powerful FX processors have been introduced. And now, after seven years on the market, FAC decided to give it a successor with Bandit 2.
FAC Bandit 2
Bandit 2 is a new multiband multi-FX processor for iOS and macOS. FAC Bandit 2 follows the classic multi-band processing concept by splitting the audio signal into independent frequency bands. In this case, it splits them into three: Low, Mid, High
Each band can be processed with its own effect processor and then recombined to create the final sound. This way, you can, for example, add depth and spice to the lows with saturation while giving the highs shine.
Bandit 2 features five distinct FX algorithms: saturation, Lo-Fi degradation, ring modulation, delay, and reverb. Each FX offers a range of models and is fully adjustable with a variety of parameters.
For example, the saturation has four modes: soft, hard, BPF, and BELL, as well as parameters with drive, pre-gain, and pre-/post filter. Once the effects are set to your taste, you can blend them precisely within each band.
Two adjustable crossover points give you full control over which frequencies are affected, allowing you to shape your tone with precision.
Alongside the band-specific parameters, you also have global features including a multiband filter with low/high bands crossover frequencies and an adjustable slope between 6dB and 48dB.
It’s also possible to activate a linked mode, with which all band controls are linked, including crossover frequencies, gains, mixes, and FX parameters. Other features include dry/wet control and a built-in two-mode limiter: brickwall and hard.
FAC Bandit also comes with a wide range of factory presets.
First Impression
In direct comparison, there aren’t epic new features. It’s still Bandit, but in a new version. The only new features are that all FX are now included; this was only possible via iAP in Bandit 1, and the user interface has also been slightly improved.
There is also a limiter, and it now runs as a macOS plugin. All in all, a nice, solid upgrade for one of the best multi-FX processors on the iOS market. I would have liked to see more effects, but sometimes less, better-tuned ones are better than a huge number that don’t work well together.
FAC Bandit 2 is available now for an introductory price of $9,99 USD, down from $12,99 USD (23% OFF), until April 30, 2026. It runs as a standalone and AUv3 FX plugin on iOS (iPhone/iPad) and macOS.
