Dreadbox offers its lovely-sounding Erebus 3 semi-modular analog Synthesizer in a retro synth wave inspired special edition for a limited time
Last June, Dreadbox released a special edition of its much-loved Erebus 3 synthesizer. Visually, the new interface is reminiscent of the retro synth wave world, but nothing had changed technically. This version is limited to 120 units and was initially only available from Sweetwater in the USA.
Now the last units are also available in the rest of the world directly from the Dreadbox website. Anyone interested in it, which was only built 120 times, should access it here.
Overview
Dreadbox Erebus 3 is an analog duophonic Synthesizer with three flexible oscillators that are equipped with a very auto-tuning function. One of the highlights is a triple ring modulator section where you can add a sharper and harsher character to the oscillators. These then go into a single smooth-sounding 12dB resonating multimode filter. On the modulation side, it offers a an ADSR envelope generator with a loop function, 3 LFOs, and an individual patchable VCA.
Thanks to a built-in patch bay, you can change many functions and use them as you want. In the patch section, you can find patch points (35) for many of the functions, an analog clock generator, patchable sample & hold and more. In the end, you can give the sound the classic Erebus timbre with the built-in lo-fi echo processor.

The Erebus3 is a lovely instrument. I actually prefer the original color scheme myself (I like this scheme on the Hypnosis.) I’ll just mention, you should def get one of these though if you need a great semi-modular synth. Color should be the last of your concerns…
