Omnisphere 2.5 brings hardware & software synths together, includes new synthesis features (4 layers, wavetables…), over 1000 new patches & more!

At Superbooth 2018, Spectrasonics has surprised music producers with an unexpected massive Omnisphere 2.5 update. This update was a perfect fit for the event as it includes a new feature that no software company has done so far so perfect: hardware synth integration in a software plugin. From now on, musicians can open a profile, control Omnisphere 2.5 from their favourite hardware Synthesizer and use the same knobs without any mapping procedure. At the current stage, there are over 30 synths supported but the list will be expanded in future.

To conclude the hardware integration, Omnisphere 2.5 features also over 1000 new patches that reproduce in an impressive way the sound of these supported Synths including waveforms and filters from this hardware synths. It does not stop here. Now you have four layers per patch, doubled patch matrix, more LFO’s & envelopes, more wavetables & more. Another feature which I’m happy to see is the new design of the granular mode that now has a built-in waveform display.

The new version is a massive update for Omnisphere and shows well why this plugin is the best soft synth currently on the market.
