Deal Boss RV-200 Reverb

The Boss RV-200 is a stereo reverb pedal and is the little sister pedal of the big RV-500. Its core offers twelve reverb types: room, hall, plate, spring, shimmer, arpverb, slowverb, modulate, delay, lo-fi, gate, and reverse. According to Boss, the Arpverb is novel and a new development.

So you get tons of reverb algorithms to explore in a compact pedal. They are all tweakable with various hardware controls: time, pre-delay, e level, parameter, low and high.

Like Roland products, Boss pedals usually go into more depth. The six parameters on the front are one level, but there are even more adjustment options. For example, you can adjust the density with six stages. Great, you can save your patches in 127 user memories and recall them at any time. Other features are:

  • 32-bit AD/DA, 32-bit floating point processing, and 96 kHz sampling rate
  • Selectable carryover for maintaining reverb trails when switching presets or bypassing the effect
  • wet/dry and dry mute output options
  • two assignable footswitches
  • expressive Hold, Warp, and Twist effects available via footswitch control

On the connection side, you get stereo I/O on mono 6.3mm sockets, expression pedal input, TRS MIDI I/O, and a micro USB port (why Boss?)

Deal Or Not

Good reverbs in hardware form often cost 200€, 300€ or even more. Here, you get a high-quality stereo reverb with lots of functionality and MIDI support for little money. Operation is partly very hands-on but also goes into depth. The quality algorithms are well above the asking price. For me, a great deal.

The deal on the Boss RV-200 Reverb is now on Thomann. It is available for the best price of 159€ instead of 252€ (the last street price).
