Black Friday is around the corner. There is already a flood of deals, especially on software. Hardware is always a little quieter, but there will be deals. One early one comes from Roland.

The Roland Gaia 2, a Synthesizer that only came onto the market last year, has already made it to the deal list. You can get it now with up to 28% OFF discount for 498€ instead of 695 (last street price) in Europe or $599,99 instead of $749,99 in the US.

Deal Roland GAIA 2

The GAIA 2 Synthesizer has a difficult legacy. The original Roland GAIA SH-01 Synthesizer came out in 2010 and was on the market until recently. So 12 years on the market without interruption. The MicroKorg from Roland. It is doubtful whether the new GAIA 2 will remain on the market for as long.

For the deal price of 498€, the Roland GAIA 2 Synthesizer offers a powerful engine with 22 voices of polyphony and hands-on control. It hosts three oscillators per voice, one of which is a wavetable oscillator, and two virtual analogs.

The feature set also includes digital multimode filters, two ADSR envelopes, two LFOs, and a multi-FX processor with 53 types. A creative feature is the built-in motion pad for X/Y.

You can manually control multiple parameters with it or use the parameter automation engine. A sequencer with motion recording is also onboard.

In addition to the factory wavetable and VA engine, you can flip the GAIA 2 in a different synth using Roland’s Modal expansions and the Roland Cloud. It ships with the polyphonic SH-101 Modal Expansion, but it also supports Jupiter-8, JX-8P, or Juno-106.

Connection side, it has classic MIDI I/O, stereo output, USB memory, and USB-C for data and audio.

There are countless videos on YouTube about the GAIA 2. Sound designer Jexus’s two linked sound demos show what the synth can do particularly well. He doesn’t play factory presets but has created his own sounds.

Deal Or Not

Regarding the price, it’s a deal. Better 498€ than 695€. But in the end, it all depends on whether you like the sound or not. Because that’s what inspires you or not.

The Roland GAIA 2 deal is now available on Thomann, Perfect Circuit and other retailers. For a limited time, it is available for 498€ instead of 695€ or $599,99 instead of $749,99.

    • Don’t judge by listening to Jexus presets because Jexus specializes in low-fi type of sounds. Actually GAIA 2 is quite potent and for me it’s much better in sound than Virus.

  1. With Roland new model of drastically cutting the price of these mid range synths is there even any point of buying one when they first come out?

    • Aaahhh, for less than 500€ … I simply could not resist! I think it’s really a top offer right now and the ergonomic aspect looks really thought through. Bravo Roland!
Looking forward to use in context and compared it soundwise with the Manatee ☺️

    • Nope, you exactly got it right. Always wait a few months a they slash the prices. At some points not enough, but eventually they will. KAOSS Replay got cut by w00 bucks, which is now in OK-territory (and it’s not a SP404 contender, as all these YouTubers made everyone believe, because they are not really musicians, but video content creators).

This one here seems OK for 500 bucks, butI’d just go for DUNE 3 , if you don’t need another set of white keys 😉
