ALM Pip Filter and Pip LFO are two new compact 4HP modules, featuring a filter/VCA combo and a flexible LFO for modulations for Eurorack.

Rack space is expensive and usually limited. To fit as many sound design options and functionality into a case, you try to use modules with a more compact design.

The British company ALM Busy Circuits introduced such modules today: the Pip Filter and the Pip LFO.

Both new ALM modules, the Pip Filter and Pip LFO, are skiff-friendly and offer reverse power protection. So if you plug the power cable with the red line facing upwards, you are protected.

The new Pip Filter is a compact 4HP analog filter for Eurorack. ALM Pip Filter features a voltage-controlled 2-pole 12dB/Oct lowpass filter with traditional cutoff and resonance controls. Besides its knobs for manual tweakings, you can also control the cutoff with dual CV inputs with a built-in attenuverter.

Resonance is manually controllable and can also enter self-oscillation with optional rough V/octave tracking, providing a sine oscillator. A highlight of the module is the dedicated trigger input, which allows you to ping the filter for percussive, plucked-type sounds.

Additionally, it offers a built-in VCA (normalled open) for independent amplitude control of the filtered signal. Neat, so the module is a 2-in-1 module with a filter and VCA.

The ALM Pip LFO is a new, compact 4HP analog low-frequency oscillator module with a wide frequency range spanning approximately 0.01 Hz to 20 kHz. The VCO mode converts the LFO into a VCO by raising the frequency to the audio range, with V/oct tracking, for approximately five octaves.

It features unipolar square wave output along with both bipolar and unipolar triangle, saw, and sine waveform outputs. You can manually control the speed of the LFO or voltage control it with the dedicated input.

Furthermore, it features a reset input that enables the LFO waveform cycle to be reset, producing hard sync functionality in VCO mode. Good, there is also a LED indication for the frequency.

Two lovely, compact modules that offer classic functionality in just 4HP.
