Intellijel Multigrain is a new stereo granular sampler module for Eurorack with resampling and morphing capabilities.
I’m covering SynthFest France 2025 in Nantes this weekend. The videos will soon be uploaded to YouTube. So, the news on the website is a bit late. Also, this is exciting news from Canada.
Intellijel has released the Multigrain, a new stereo granular sampler with a neat feature set.
Intellijel Multigrain
Multigrain is a 20HP 8-channel stereo granular sampler module for Eurorack. It operates in 48kHz 24-bit stereo I/O and 32-bit float point internal processing. Each channel is a layer that can be layered on another and sequenced.
Two ways to get sounds into the Intellijel Multigrain module are via your microSD sample library (48kHz 16-bit stereo WAV – 32 second max) or by recording directly on the module using the left and right inputs. The sounds can be loaded into eight slots and operated with the same number of buttons.
Each of the eight sound buttons plays a number of grains generated from its own sample and offers two sets of granular parameter settings. There are a total of 13 dedicated hands-on granular parameters: 10 per-knob functions and three behaviour toggles.
You can find parameters such as sample start and end, grain start, wrap, grain scan, grain size and envelope shape, and more. A highlight is the ability to morph manually with the fader or CV/attenuverter socket between these two scenes (A/B), giving you organic, evolving sounds. There is also a pitch quantizer per sound available.
Another powerful feature of the Intellijel Multigrain is the built-in resampling option, which captures the granularized sample and transforms it into a new sample. Blur, a unique-sounding Hi-Fi reverb processor, is also on board to refine and give them space.
Modulation
Multigrain loves all kinds of modulation. Intellijel has added three assignable CV inputs (X, Y, Z) with attenuvertion that you can apply to any granular engine’s parameters. However, you do not have to feed the module with an external CV. It also hosts internally generated random modulation that can be used.
Also neat is the option to sync the Multigrain engine to your system clock. It has a clock sync toggle and dedicated input. That’s not all. Dedicated Next, Gate, Select CV inputs allow you to sequence or surf through sounds, layering and mixing them on top of each other.
Further, it also houses two freely assignable 48KHz modulation outputs to morph position, grain trigger, grain envelope, and other parameters. You can also latch your sound for drones or use unlatches for percussion bursts of sound.
Intellijel Multigrain doesn’t offer a major internal memory. That’s not a problem as it uses a microSD card reader to save all settings, presets, and samples. It ships with a 32GB card filled with sample content and presets from professional sound designers, including Richard Devine.
Multigrain supports up to 48 Projects, each with 48 Presets, so you can store multiple configurations and sample sets for instant recall.
First Impression
As I write this, I’m a little brain-fucked from spending all day looking at the latest ynthesizers and making videos. But the new Multigrain has me itching to screw it into my rack.
It looks super interesting and fun. Granular is often very menu-divvy, but this is, in contrast, very hands-on, if not the most hands-on granular module to date. Morphing parameter layers are elegant, too, as they add a lot of movement to the process with little programming effort. I love it. Great job, Intellijel.
Intellijel Multigrain is available now for $479.

i don’t do top jack modules.
Put it on bottom row or turn it upside down. Having the jacks on top allow you to use all the buttons, knobs and slider. I personally wouldn’t like it if the jacks were on the bottom.
