The Synthesizer Museum Berlin opens on February 12, 2025, and invites you to its first exhibition with over 50 legendary and rare synthesizers.
Last year, Schneidersladen moved from its legendary shop above the REWE market to Karl-Marx Straße in Berlin. Workshops were still held there until recently.
From February 12, new life will enter the premises. The Synthesizer Museum Berlin will then open and invite visitors to a vintage Synthesizer extravaganza featuring over 50 legendary instruments.

The time has come, and the makers beyond the project are opening a museum for vintage synth lovers on February 12th in the former Schneidersladen premises in Berlin Kreuzberg.
The first temporary exhibition will feature over 50 legendary and rare synthesizers and other closely related electronic instruments.
“This unique collection of genre-defining exhibits offers an exciting journey through time, showcasing the evolution of the instruments that have shaped pop music like no other,” says the Synthesizer Museum Berlin team.
“Berlin is the perfect place to celebrate the history of the synthesizer and to make its cultural influence accessible to a wide audience,” explains Michael Soltau, film composer and initiator of the museum. “From the ‘Berlin School’ with Tangerine Dream, to David Bowie’s ‘Berlin Trilogy,’ and the city’s vibrant techno scene, Berlin has played a key role in electronic music history.”
The organizers say it will not be a “no touch” museum. In addition to learning about the history of synthesizers, visitors will have the chance to try out selected instruments themselves.
Guided tours will provide additional value. Audio experts and musicians, such as Thorsten Quaeschning (Tangerine Dream), will explain the functionality of the exhibits. Visitors will learn how famous tracks were created and which synthesizers played a central role in their production.
The exhibition marks the beginning of efforts to establish a permanent location for the museum in Berlin. With over 14 million museum visitors annually—70% of whom are tourists—the Synthesizer Museum will be a valuable addition to the capital’s diverse cultural offerings.
Regular music events and workshops will complement the exhibition program. Ahead of the museum’s official opening on day one, there will be a Grand Opening and concerts with Thorsten Quaeschnig of Tangerine Dream and Pyrolator.
