AAS Multiphonics CV-3 is a major update of its modular Synthesizer plugin with new physical modeling and FM synthesis power, MPE, and more.
At NAMM 2025, AAS unveiled the new Multiphonics CV-3 plugin for macOS and Windows, a significant feature update for its unique modular synth. Version 3 has many exciting new features, such as polyphony support, that level up the plugin.
Today, it’s the day. Multiphonics CV-3 is out now.
AAS Multiphonics CV-3
Like CV-2, Multiphonics CV-3 will not be a free update, but upgrades will be available for existing users once it’s released.
AAS Multiphonics CV-3 remains a modular Synthesizer and FX processor plugin. Unlike VCV Rack or Cherry Audio, AAS takes a different approach with it is modular synth plugin and does not emulate the Eurorack world. This can be seen in the developed modules and its concept.
The AAS developers have incorporated exciting new features into the new version, which finally moves the plugin in the direction of the previous Tassman 4 Synthesizer.
A highlight will be support for full polyphony. Until now, you could only make very complex monophonic patches. With Multiphonics CV-3, polyphonic patches are finally possible. On of that, you can play these new polyphonic patches expressively with MPE.
New Multiphonics CV-3 Modules
The new version offers some new, exciting stuff on the module front. Multiphonics CV-3 will feature a new 3-operator FM oscillator module with four selectable algorithms. It also comes with two physical modeling acoustic object oscillators: Objeq and Tube.
Yes, finally! Physical modeling is finally available in the Multiphonics synth plugin. The Objeq oscillator brings Chromaphone’s exciting resonator engine into the modular world. It can reproduce the sound of various acoustic objects.
The Tube oscillator is a physical model of a cylindrical tube with a built-in exciter. Besides this, it ships with a new stack VCO with detuned sawtooth oscillators and different waveforms. There are also new filters, effects, and modulators.
A new comb filter module with selectable topology expands the physical modeling capabilities even further. AAS also added a new unique tube filter that reproduces the effect of an open or closed tube.
The modulator module arsenal includes a new flexible ADSR envelope with linear/exponential responses and a pluck envelope specially designed for percussive sounds. Other new additions are a patchable reverb processor and a handy oscilloscope module for signal visualization
AAS Multiphonics CV-3 also ships with 100 all-new synth and effects pedals that showcase the new modules.
First Impression
At first glance, this is an exciting update for the AAS Multiphonics CV-3 Synthesizer plugin. Of the new features, this update appeals to me the most so far because of the addition of the physical modeling oscillators and the polyphony, as it takes the plugin to Tassman 4 fields. I’m looking forward to checking out the new version.
AAS Multiphonics CV-3 is available now for $149 and $199 for the PACKS version with three sound packs. You can upgrade from CV-2 for $49 instead of $79 from your user account. It runs as a standalone and VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.
If you’ve pre-ordered Multiphonics CV‑3 or registered a new Multiphonics CV‑2 license after November 15, 2024, Multiphonics CV-3 is a free upgrade.
