Ohmforce Frohmager is a new 100% free filter plugin for macOS and Windows with an extensive modulation engine.
Good news from Ohmforce. They have just updated Frohmager and added native Apple Silicon support. The plugin and update are free of charge.

In the summer, Ohmforce said goodbye to its entire portfolio of old plugins. They are free downloadable but without future support for new and upcoming operating systems. It is a no-brainer deal for users with older systems.
Today, Ohmforce makes a comeback with a new free plugin that also runs on modern computers (except native Apple Silicon)
Ohmforce Frohmager
Frohmager is a new free filter plugin for macOS and Windows. The name comes from the French fromage and means cheese. So, a cheesy filter plugin. Don’t worry, dear lactose-intolerant musicians, the filter also works in lactose-free environments.
Ohmforce describes it as a unique lowpass filter that adds resonant frequencies in the mix. The core consists of a lowpass filter with cutoff and resonance controls and additional distortion. You can also delve deeper by expanding the filter process into the bands.
The filter can process the entire spectrum or only specific bands that you can define and mangle with three controls (width, delay, count). This makes the lowpass filter significantly more flexible and turns it into a multi-band filter.
Another highlight of the new Frohmager is the extensive modulation engine taken over from the Ohmboyz Infinity plugin. It gives you multiple multi-wave and fully customizable LFOs, ADSR envelopes, step sequencers, and an envelope follower.
These can be assigned to almost every parameter. Plus, there are wilder self-modulation and randomization options possible.
Further, it hosts four color-coded macro controls aka Macros² system which you can map as many parameters as you want.
So a macro can not only control a specific cutoff range but also introduces modulation, add distortion, and more with a single knob twist.
Frohmager also ships with a nice preset browser with new and Fromage legacy presets. Plus, it also supports the Native Instruments NKS format.
First Impression
I’ve already tested the Frohmager briefly. The plugin works as an AU on my macOS Apple Silicon. The VST, however, does not.
Maybe it’s a problem in my DAW or a bug that will be fixed soon. I can say that it works on new systems and is a fun, versatile processor, too. Nice to see Ohmforce is back.
Ohmforce Frohmager is available now as a free download. No registration is required. It runs as a VST, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (Intel + native Apple Silicon) and Windows.

AUHostingCompatibilityService
I can confirm the VST3 works on Apple silicon, yet only with Rosetta.
VST/VST3 works on Rosetta for me, in native mode just with AU.
