Future Retro Transfer is a new unique analog filter module for Eurorack with 16 different filter modes and morphing capabilities.
There are many analog filters available. Most are based on vintage circuits from Moog, Oberheim Roland, and other classics. Things get more interesting when analog filters explore new territory using new circuits or options.
Future Retro has launched Transfer, a new analog filter that does just that—leaving classic analog filters behind and offering new options.
Future Retro Transfer
Transfer is a new 12HP analog filter module for Eurorack with a unique feature set. Its core offers 16 different analog filter types split over four banks, accessible via four buttons.
Banks 1 and 2 include lowpass variations with 12dB and 24 dB slopes and unconventional band-pass filters. Banks 3 and 4 feature lowpass options with 18dB and 6dB slopes and atypical highpass and notch filters.
With this range of options, the modules cover many filtering grounds. But it gets more interesting. Transfer is equipped with a type knob that allows you to morph smoothly through the filter types. On top of that, you can CV control it and create organic and flexible tone shaping.
Then, you can find in Future Retro Transfer traditional cutoff and resonance controls, which are also fully CV controllable. Next to this, it has an input drive to spice up your signals.
Alongside input and output sockets for mono signals, it features an integrated VCA that gives you convenient control over the level.
First Impression
It is an exciting new analog filter, and I look forward to more sound examples. The possibility of morphing through different filter types sounds like a lot of fun.
Future Retro Transfer is available now for $349,95 in the US and soon to the EU.
