ALM Busy Circuits has released MFX Echos and MFX Digiverbs, new $10 bundles featuring echos and reverb plugins based on their MFX hardware.
We see Eurorack developers exploring new areas more and more, either in the form of pedals (Endorphin.es, Noise Engineering, etc.) or plugins. ALM Busy Circuits from Great Britain has chosen both product categories.
The MFX pedal, which came to Superbooth 2024, was their first pedal. At the beginning of the year, the Motto Akemie was the first ALM plugin. Now, they have expanded their plugin range with two affordable effect bundles.
ALM MFX Echos MFX Digiverbs
Both new MFX Echos and MFX Digiverbs are effect plugin bundles based on algorithms from their MFX hardware series (pedal/module). The plugin interfaces are very hands-on and strikingly simple.
The MFX Echos bundle features an analog- and another digital-style echo processor. The Digi-PCM Echo is a digital delay inspired by early digital rack delays with control over the time, regeneration, different modes (mono, ping pong, dual, or stereo tap lines), and built-in low and high-cut filtering.
The Tape-Tech Echo emulates an analog tape-style delay. It has a built-in Lo-Fi pitch shifter and controls over time, feedback, age, wow, and shifter. Additionally, you can work with a ping-pong mode and loop option and sync it to your DAW. A drop-down menu also gives you expanded control over the play heads.
The MFX Digiverbs bundle includes two reverb plugins with algorithms heavily influenced by some of our favorite early digital reverb implementations from the 1980s and 1990s. Here, too, the interface is very simple and direct.
Almicon and QuaidraVerb plugins offer control over the pre-gain, pre-delay, size, damping, and freeze. They also have an Era switch that switches between the modern “now” and more crunchy 80s/90s modes. Of course, both have dry and wet controls.
QuaidraVerb also has an additional gate parameter for gating the reverb, while Almicon hosts a mod parameter for controlling the built-in LFO.
First Impression
Two interesting great sounding retro-influenced reverb and echo/delay plugin bundles at a very affordable price. I like that the plugins are compact and easy to use.
ALM MFX Echos and MFX Digiverbs bundles are available now for $10 each. They run as VST3 and AU plugins on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.
